I ordered mine on-line. I used a large flange rivet. You can get them in colors too. I got white because my plane is white. Here is a picture of the tag.

I'm sure it was built to land standards with caged bearings instead of cageless. I know Rotax Rick installs dual ignitions on these for our use. I wonder what kind of credit he would give a guy if he sent in his own engine? I have a sled near me with one of these in it for cheap.
I have a friend that took a 618 right out of a sled and used it in a Kitfox. He had to mill off the back and tap the holes for a gear box. He said it was a great engine. Not sure if he installed dual ignition or not.

I would like to figure out where we can camp once we get there. I have another Idaho pilot who is going and he is taking the same commercial flight I am. I know Joey and I want to camp in the same location. If you guys talk to anyone in charge of all that or find out what the program will be this year please let me know. Its going to be a great time and I look forward to meeting and hanging out this the Avidfox crew this year.

Mine is installed right at the header tank behind the seat. It pressurizes the whole system.

Yes Sir it does. If you mean the plastic gear that bolted onto the pump then yes. Here is a picture is the whole pump with gear. Would love to have you stop by. I’ll be moving all the airplane stuff from home to the new hangar May 1st.

Yes my EGT's are running lower than normal hence the reason for the needle adjustment. The aircrew adjustment is for the idle current. I will most likely change the idle jet.

I will try a new set of plugs. I ran it and it ran ok but it still does not seem to run as smooth as before. It is still cold here and the temps and barometric pressure is lower than when I ran it last summer. I am going to lower the needle, turn out the idle mixture screw out and see if that helps.
What plugs do you run Chris?
    Thanks for the input.

Yeah there was no real evidence that it was one thing. I come to the same conclusion as you. I think it was a mixture of oil left in the crankcase along with some fuel. none of the other fluids share color or consistency with what i found. I also had not turned off the gas like I normally do between runs.
I pulled the plugs last night and cleaned them. I will reinstall them and run it again this week.
    Thanks Chris

I drained the header tank. No issues there. I found the oil I drained out of the Rotory Valve system. It’s green and much heavier. I primed the engine a lot to get it to run after setting for a few weeks I’m wondering if I flooded it and didn’t run it enough to clear it up. I pulled the plugs and will dry everything out and run it again this week.

    Strange wetness in cylinders
I took the Avid out of the garage and ran it for a little bit. This is the second time I’ve ran it since installing the new rotary oil hoses and replacing the exhaust. The first run showed no issues and ran fine. It was not running as smooth as normal on the second run. I ran it for about 5 mins then shut it down. I had to run to town so I pushed it back into the garage. When I was putting it away I noticed moisture had came out the first exhaust bend and had sprayed black liquid all over the firewall and down the side of the plane. It wipped up easily. I pulled the plugs the next day to see if they were wet. Sure enough they were all very wet. The back cylinder had enough to catch in a clear laundry soap cup. It was a fine oily liquid. I tasted some and it was not sweet like antifreeze. It was not purple which is the color of the Quicksilver full Synthetic pre-mix I use and it was not green like the Semi Synthetic Quicksilver oil I run in the Rotory Valve system. It’s oily to taste and a brownish color.
I checked the float bowls and they look normal with no sign of water. The only thing I have not done is drain the header tank.
It could be some of the old oil that was left in the rotory valve system. I did have the plane on it’s nose to bleed the rotory system of air.
Any ideas? This one has me baffled.

I would like to hear about the 720 also.  Seems like it would be a beast! Is he running it and if so what’s the performance stats?

I have a pump with 58 hours TT. I took it off and put it in a clean ziplock bag. It was never ran on the plane without the oil system  hooked to it. If you think you need it let me know. I will send it to you. I have no use for it.

  20. NorthIdahoAvidflyer added a post in a topic Max Propeller Diameter

Sorry for the typo. Yes it is a B box. No the Kool prop was on an Avid. Guess thats out of the question.
I am currently running a GSC prop. I love it. It’s smooth and pulls real well. I was just looking for something a little tougher for the kind of airstrips I plan to land and take off on.
Ive heard the Ivo was a smooth prop and people love the ease of adjustability but it was not the performer that other props on the market are.  You seem to like yours. Is there one model thats superior to another?
    Thanks JimChuk

    Max Propeller Diameter
What do you guy feel is a safe max propeller length for the 582/c box/ Mark IV set up? I'm running the 2.58 : 1. I'm looking a three blade? I have a three blade Kool Prop in my Avid stuff. It was off of a 912. I have been looking as a Power Fin.

Nlappos, I am very interested in this engine swap you have going on. I have on many occasions thought about the 670 as the next engine for my Avid. For some reason I thought  I read on Rotax Rick's site that the 670 could only be mounted upright. I will be watching how this works for you. Please keep posting installation photos.
The exhaust looks good. Is Mike selling these modified elbows? If so how much is he charging.
I have access to a good 670 engine I've been going to grab for this purpose. At least I could use it as trading stock.
    Thanks again for the update.
