  1. welcome and congrats on the new plane ,that should haul some camping gear.

Im in Kalispell.where abouts are you ?

  2. nothing really ,just my brakes sucked and so when I put the bigger tires on I assumed they would suck more .I actually only use my brakes taxing or runup most of the time.i guess if a guy was on a grass strip or soft field you could fly without any brakes

  3. LoOKs like this but not sure if it's the right model number. George at matco will no what your talking about .leni runs the same setup to.he could probably verify also .the original caliper goes in the empty spot .

  4. my plane will cruise with no pump but will not run wide open without it .I also have a secondary pump .I also leave one pump switch on when I shutdown just in case I forget when I fly next ,all down at shutoff ,back up with the one.

  5. if you have 6"wheels you can go with the 22" dessers or even the 21" are an even better deal.If you have the 8" wheels you can go up to 27" ,the whole desser  line of aeroclassics wear really well.when I did mine I used the double caliper plate from matco to double the braking and still use what I had ,just added two calipers .they work awesome .you can taxi the plane around with the tail up quite easily

  7. RV-7 is one hell of a plane. And no I started the Sonex 5 years ago got it sitting up on the gear Ill get back to that one next year or so. As for you enjoy yours and let us know how that turbo VW is. I saw the factory video when Jeremy did it and wow that was sweet.

ill give a shakedown report for sure .

  8. An Avid Flyer with skiis makes you like snow... This was my first time on skiis (a few years ago now)...

Doubt it, my aversion to snow is very very strong.  Floats are much better in my opinion!

I agree floats and snow go great together .a fun sunday

exactly what I was thinking .we took the avid on a 1000 mile trip through idaho ,Oregon and Washington this year but it would be nice to get back east too  .

  11. yeah that's it .the silver motor on the back appears to be a rc car motor. ivo sells them for 150.00.which isn't bad but im sure a replacement rc motor of the same wind could be found of higher quality for less .

  12. I just replaced the motor on my ul and its a brushed rc car motor but unsure of the wind.ill grab it at the hanger if I remember and post some pics of it .it was really easy to change .hour and fifteen minutes including the safety wire. way easier than sending it in.

  13. I'm doing a 3rd version that I highly recommend, I fly with the doors closed but open the windows... Much less drag, less risk of stuff falling out, can be used even by newbie passengers (opening the door in flight can be a bit scary first time you fly), great for photo...

And installing windows to open is a perfect winter project. Details and more photos on my blog, June 18th post

Nothing beats flying with your elbow out the window on a hot summer day...
