    About the only difference is the sling seat, no fiberglass leading edge and no fabric interior.

    Nutserts are what I used to secure the aluminum cover on my wing. You do have to be careful when crimping them though.

    I think they are called blind nuts or rivnuts. Drill the hole and press them in. They are threaded on the inside. If I did it again I would put a little epoxy on them before I pressed them in.

    I don' t remember what thickness the alu was. It is light enough to follow the curve of the wing. The fasteners I used pressed into a hole I drilled into the ribs, then drilled the alu and screwed it down. I think the screws are 10/32. I also ran a row parallel to the front spar. For the hinge I just used fabric glued to the front spar.

    This is how I did my tank insert access. Not pretty but very practical. I would rather have practical than pretty.

    I'm glad you like Florida makes more room for our ski flying. Everybody that has been to Florida tells me you have to stay in the house with the air conditioner on. I would rather shiver than sweat.

    The perfect snow
    We got about 10" of new snow last night. Had to dig my way to the hanger but I got there. Installed my skis on the Avid and went out and had fun. With my wing jack I can get my main skis and tail ski on in about a hour and 15 minutes.

    I installed the plastic wing tanks inside my crap fiberglass tanks. Instead of covering it with fabric again I covered it with aluminium. At the leading edge I just used fabric for the hinge then screwed the rest to the ribs. Now I can access the tanks with no trouble. As a matter of fact tomorrow I have to open it up and replace the fuel line. I would never cover it with fabric again. I will take pictures tomorrow if I make it over there.

    IMO there are only 2 types of Avid tanks, the kind that does leak or the kind that will leak.

    Ed, I guess I do not know if the local gas station lied to me. I never tested it. I just always bought fuel out of the pump that said premium gas with no ethanol.

    I fly with the door open all the time. Be careful when you open it in flight. The outside handle will slam up against the front spar if you do not have a good grip on the door. The airplane will want to roll to the right real bad. One of the disadvantages of a open door.
