lv2plyguitar added a post in a topic Knik River Fun
My tail wheel is to long. The chord is to flat with tail wheel on ground. Going to grind is down three inches which will make a big difference when I pull back on stick.

Actually I think I answered my own question because of the way it wraps

Shock CordsI am curious why the Avid Flyer cannot use a single wrap bungee instead of a 1/2 inch or 3/8 wrapped several times. They have shock cords that are rated 1460. This would eliminate the need to wrap 7 or 8 times and make it a lot cleaner and easier to inspect.

Whirlwind advertises as quiet and smooth. That is exactly my experience. Very happy with it.

It will take off as fast as you have nerve to pull back on the stick. LOL.

Big Lake FlightI finally got the 75 inch STOL Whirlwind Propeller installed and went for a flight Saturday evening. The prop is incredibly smooth. Was studying the issue of gear box chatter with the Rotax 912 ULS. Minimum RMP is 1600. This prop allows that for sure. Very quiet.

lv2plyguitar added a post in a topic First Flight AVID Model C Rotax 912 ULS
I have read that oil temp needs to reach at least 180 to burn off condensation inside engine or maybe premature wear can take place. My first flight up my oil temp was 141. I have some work to do to reduce air flow through the cowling. Right now it has gapping holes everywhere.,

****Sold******Rotax 582 Grey Head Dual Ignition. 120 Original Hours. Ran Flawlessly. Everything firewall forward goes with sell. Includes In Flight adjustable carbs, muffler, Mark 4 mounts, starter, C Drive, Ducati ignition, Cheek radiators. All seals were replaced 3 years ago prior to running engine for first time at zero hours. One bolt in exhaust was stripped but oversized. One fitting on engine on crank case for the oil was stripped but fixed. This engine ran with no failure and is ready to bolt on and run now. Shipping to lower 48 states from Alaska is about $350. I will discount price to make up part of shipping.
I am selling because I re-powered with a rotax 912.
Asking $1700

lv2plyguitar added a post in a topic Propeller Wanted
Actually I just ordered a new whirlwind three blade 75" designed for a rotax 912 uls and has been used on several avids with great results especially on take off. Expensive but seems like a quality prop.

Okay Thanks. Man that's a huge hole in the bottom. Are you still running on the cooler side? What's your oil temp?

that is actually a good consideration. So your saying the C box would sell for 850? How much for just the engine? How much for cheek radiators?
Thanks

Nose Over TendencySince I have flown my AVID C Model it seems to want to nose down when I reach 75 ish. The COG is correct so no issue there. Do you have any ideas? Is it because of the wash built into the wing?
Thanks for any ideas.

First Flight AVID Model C Rotax 912 ULSVideo is first flight of AVID Model C with HH upgrades with Rotax 912 ULS. Took off at half throttle. Full throttle torqued the plane to left and almost off runway. Happened so fast I forgot to use rudder. Very smooth running engine. Some bugs to work out. To much air running through cowling causing it to run to cool. Otherwise I am very happy with the upgrade. Prop is to large. Causes the drive to chatter when rpm is to low.
