    I think my friend Paul had "stock" Avid-Matco wheels and they were 6x4".  He added the ring to widen them.
    Give Matco a call.  Get the proper parts so that you don't wreck your expensive tires.

    Too H-E-A-V-Y.
    Too complex with trying to adapt a computer system.
    Too expensive.  By the time you engineer a PSRU, engine mount, fuel system, several propellers and all of the computer crap, you could have bought a brand new 912.

    With the integrated tube, drawing the beads in closer than the recommended 6X6 wheels would be risky of pinching the "tube" between the wheel halves.  Pinching the tube will render the tires junk.

    The people who seem have the only luck with VW engines are the ones turning a small diameter prop, at high rpm and going relatively fast.  Sonex, KR2, etc.

    The 27” Desser tires are for 8” wheels. 
    This is not the only time I have heard the 26” ultralight tires are prone to damage.  I think it depends greatly on how heavy your plane is.  If you have a 4-500 pound light plane you’d probably be okay.  More than that, I would say go with the Airstreaks.  If you have one of the fat-assed late model 900 pound planes, the “standard” heavy carcass tire would be better.

    If it has extended rib tails to hang the flapperons from, it is not a Kitfox-Riblett wing.  These have separate aluminum brackets that the flapperons are attached to.

    The black mount still appears to be a bed mount for a 582, only with the side provision to attach the cowl.

    Those are definitely undercambered wing ribs. You can see the extended mounts for the flapperons and the undercambered shape clearly.  These are not model IV wings. 
    The doors are flat bottomed so it’s not a 1.  
    This is is either a 2 or 3 model depending on the lift struts.
