I believe the oil outlet is above the oil pump on this set up.  Realize the picture was taken from below looking up.  The aluminum tube is pretty much flat with the ground.  I know in the picture it looks like it goes upward.  As far as the water bottle, I think it was just a plastic bottle with a screw on top.  Like a squeeze bottle.  JImChuk

I would maybe try a glued on  fabric patch on the inside.  I would try to put a clamp on it to sqeeze it tight while the glue dries.  Plastic against the fabric, then block of wood or something, then clamp.  Dab some paint on it when it's dry.  Maybe it will blend in.  Make sense?  JImChuk

I don't know one way or the other Doug, the serial # of the one with the plastic tank was 1045, and the fiberglass tank one was 1176D.  JImChuk
PS  Maybe the tank came off a snowmobile, it was built originally in Wisconsin.  Maybe someone with a C model will pipe up with what kind of tank they have.

Here again Doug, I have to straighten you out. ;-)  I was wrong!  Boy is that hard to say. :-)   I got looking through some of my pictures, and while my first MK IV had the fiberglass tank like you show, my second one had a plastic tank.  The second one was about 125 earlier serial # so maybe they used this plastic tank for a while and then went with the fiberglass one??? It sure looks like it fit the space it was in very well.  Maybe the alshimers is creeping up on me after all.  :-)  Sorry I don't have pics that show it better, this is all I found of the plastic tank, and the one with the fiberglass tank just barley showed a corner of the tank.   As far as the broken oil line goes, I would be worried about getting that out.  I think if it was mine, I would carefully try an easy out, but it that didn't work I would try to tap the inside of the fitting hole and use a smaller fitting.   I'm worried that the broken fitting may just expand and not want to back out.   The rotary valve oil system is just an oil bath, not really any circulation though there.  You do want to make sure you get all the air out of the system when you fill it with oil however.  The brass gear on the crankshaft will not last long if it's running dry.  I fill directly into the bottom hose (unhook the hose from the bottle) and then as the oil level rises, it pushes the air out the top oil outlet, filling the system completely with oil.  There is also a bleed screw on the 582 for getting out the trapped air.  I don't trust it as much as filling as I've described.  JImChuk

On the Avid MK IVs that I've had, the oil tank was actually on the pilot's side of the firewall.  I'll see if I can find a picture.  Avid used a fiberglass tank that held about a gallon.  JImChuk

It's not hard to cold bend these springs if you have a good hydraulic press.  I've done it several times.   JImChuk

I would think they were go cart brakes.   That's what I would look for first off.  JImChuk

Just looked in the poly fiber manual, and it says to use the white under yellow or red poly tone. Says it will give much better coverage, and brighter red or yellow color.  JImChuk

The Avid MK IV had the hold opens in the back.  I never used the factory hold open though.  Made a strap of aluminum with a slot in it that would hook and hold if you lifted the door high enough. Never got poked in the back with that.  Finish could have been a bit better, but it worked fine.  You did have to push the door up, and with the other hand push the bottom of the strap off the hook.  Makes closing the door in flight a bit more difficult.  JImChuk

    Kitfox 2 on barnstormers
Just saw this on barnstormers.  Might be a good deal for someone.  Has current registration, but not an airworthness certificate according to the FAA website.  Maybe get it home,  get a DAR, and get it in the air.  JImChuk

If you don't bend it to far open, you should be able to get a chunk of scotchbrite pad in there and slide it back and forth with a flat blade screwdriver or something.   I'm guessing you would have trimmed out or flattened it where it goes over the ribs so that should give a bit of room also.  Don't think it needs a whole lot, just a rougher surface so the epoxy can grab onto it.  JImChuk

good idea to scuff sand that inside surface when you go to epoxy it on as well.  JImChuk

That's what I cover the hole with.  Piece of aluminum and a few screws like you said.  I'm sure an inspection cover would work fine, this just gave me real easy access.  And cost me nothing.  JImChuk

Just a thought, I would put a small tube in (aluminum glued in) so you can make a trap door/access panel for your tail wheel spring bolt.  The tube will give some thing to wrap the fabric around.  Picture is of my Avid and tubes are slightly different, but you get the idea for the Kitfox.  JImChuk

Great that you got it flying!  Nothing like that first flight to raise the adrenalin.  I had some negative issues with negative flaperon settings as well, and wouldn't use them myself.  Have fun, and be safe!  JImChuk

Robert or Kyle Bessent from Jacksonville Fl.  FAA site says it's a MK IV.  looks like an earlier rudder though.  Another interesting coincicdence, I got my last BFR in Alabama 1n 2015 from the original builder or someone with the same name.   JImChuk

I think that the further down the center of the cabane is from the bottom of the plane, the less leverage is there to try to pull the sides of the plane toward each other.  There have been pictures posted of that happening, with the bottom tube of the seat truss being buckled inward.  Of course if you lower the cabane, the arms with the bungees on them will need to be shortened as well so the wheels aren't splayed out.  JImChuk

Cheapest route may be to send your gauge back to Westach.  I've sent several to be recalibrated and they charged $25.  Give them a call and see what they say.  JImChuk

5/16"  you may have to run a drill bit through it first, if there was any bubbling on the inside of the tube when it was welded in though.  JImChuk

Mark makes a good point about the data plate.  Usually the builder used the kit serial # for the serial # of the plane.   Do you have the data plate? Or the N # for that matter, if it's still registered, the serial # will be on the FAA website data for your plane.  JImChuk
