  1. No I sold my Merlin with the IVO and sold the Luga to another guy. Looking back I wish I would have tried the Luga. The plane I own now had a timed out Hartzel CS and I replaced it with a MT wow what a difference plus it was 28 lbs lighter

  2. Yes it went back to Alberta. It’s parked in a brand new hanger in Vulcan. There are days I wish I still owned it.

  3. This balance tube conversation is very interesting. I always have a out of balance situation somewhere in the mid rpm range and it’s next on my list of things to do. I am going to use 1/4 to 1/2 inch off of manifold then 1/2 inch Id pipe for crossover as I can do this quick...if it gets rid of mid range out of balance I won’t go any further. My cowl only will give me about 1/2 of clearance over the stock balance tube so it going to be a challenge to go 1”. I increased discharge hose size on my sprayer nurse tank from 2” to 2 1/2” without changing anything else and it was a day and night differance so hoping it works on the balance tube as well.

  4. I was doing a bit of eyeballing the old prop vs new for blade to cowl clearance, with prop pitched fairly course which is likely to course there is about 1/2 clearance between back of blade and cowl. Will I need a spacer? I am going to use a spinner like the one Tjay has so no clearance needed there.

  5. He sent me a lengthy letter when I inquired about were my prop was. He said the Amazon like company that owned the building he was in gave him the boot and then he was also shut down due to the flu so it sounded like he was or still is a one man show for time being.

  6. 175-ish inch pounds of torque.  The rest is pretty straight forward.

    thanks for that.

I also notice there is no mounting hardware came with it so will have to find some in N America I can’t wait for them to come from overseas.

  7. There  is kind of a funny situation there, I'm not sure what the real situation is, but I sort of think they may be sales men with the props coming from the same place.  Roman's emai address is this  nrprop@ukr.net   I think Meglin, the guy who is connected with the Luga props is the guy who usually advertises on barnstormers.  I think the Kiev props come from the same place as well.  I am probably going to order another one, so that says something.  JImChuk

and then there’s Kool props. Roman says mine is being shipped on Monday. Can’t wait

  8. I highly recommend https://fortressclothing.com/ I have the base layer bottoms and quarter zip T base layer that I wear flying in the winter. it's the BOMB! I learned about it on Shark tank. None of the sharks bit, but I could see immediately how awesome it was. The website is kind of clunky but customer service was great.  I also have a second set of the same underwear bottoms with a crew T top that I wear under my water ski and kayak drysuits. The awesome thing about it is it works if you are active or just hanging around in the cold. To me it is a real advancement in cold weather clothing.

apparently the sharks have better heaters in their private jets so they figured there’s no need for warm clothing.

  9. Just went out to plug-in auger and fire up semi and it feels like summer at a balmy 1 degree Fahrenheit. Still dark and birds are chirping and coyotes making a racket so I am not the only one enjoying the warm weather.

  10. Those electric seat heaters sound like a good idea. Has anyone tried out those Milwaukee electric jackets? They should keep you warm before and after the flight also.

I bought one of those electric jackets, but haven't used it much in the plane.  It didn't seem to do much, and the battery is real small. The seat pad gave way more heat without the hassle of recharging it.  I ordered another one.  And Mark, the weather man said Cotton, Mn was -46 night before last....  JImChuk

I hear you on recharging...there is way to many things to recharge daily.

  12. I use a exhaust muff for heat it puts out plenty of warm air. At -5F cockpit is comfortable in a sweat shirt jeans long Jon’s and bare hands. Doors seal up tight and I fly with vents open. I preheat cockpit and engine before flight so it’s warm right off the start. I could fly in colder temps but if I don’t have to go I don’t. -47 with wind chill here this morning and a 172 was out flying pipelines when the sun started to shine.

  13. How cold of weather are you guys flying in? I usually draw the line at -5F. Cockpit is toasty at those temps. It’s been hovering around -30 to -40 this week so in hibernation at the moment.

  14. I have been planning to fly back to winters to meet up with Andy but weather and flu has put a hold on it. Dirks Merlin is 60 miles east of me also.

  15. I am hoping it works if it’s to much I will use it as a two blade. The fellow That ordered it for me said he has tried about 30 props on his Rans and said better performance with a schmitar blade was with a blade longer than what Roman recommended especially on a slow fat wing plane If It was for a speedy RV his recommendation would be spot on. Roman recommended a 72 inch two blade Jason thought 76. I will post the results here when it arrives. 1avid I think you will love that Luga from what I remember from long conversation is the prop I am using was at the bottom of the barrel for performance warp was one from the bottom. There was a real skinny multi blade prop he mentioned that has great potential but long enough blades for the power he is developing weren’t available then.

  16. I have heard the tuned intake increases the horsepower by 5 horse on the Rotax 912 uLS.  Is that true? Any of you testing running engine with and without?

I wish I had the room to make one of these work on my Merlin so I could incorporate carb heat and if it increased performance that would be a plus. This winter has been bad for high humidity always less than a 2 degree dew point spread causing carb ice twice. Engine runs fine at cruise but when you remove some throttle it feels like you lost a blade off the prop.

  17. It will be ordered today. The engine builder from Alberta that is bringing it in for me strongly recommend the R107 schmitar 3 blade for my 80 hp 912 he has a 2 blade hub that I can use also to compare. The only thing that could go wrong is I will be underpowered and I will have to explain to my other half that I need a 912 ULS or a new Edge125hp to spin my prop:o

  18. I have a 2 blade 74 inch Ivoprop and getting a bit of vibration above 5000 rpm. It’s tight and carbs are balanced. I am leaning towards a 3 blade because they are normally a bit smoother but I have two different lengths recommended by 2 suppliers 67 inches and 72 inches. You are in the middle with a 69 inch two blade. Now I am really confused
