apparently the sharks have better heaters in their private jets so they figured there’s no need for warm clothing.

Just went out to plug-in auger and fire up semi and it feels like summer at a balmy 1 degree Fahrenheit. Still dark and birds are chirping and coyotes making a racket so I am not the only one enjoying the warm weather.

Those electric seat heaters sound like a good idea. Has anyone tried out those Milwaukee electric jackets? They should keep you warm before and after the flight also.

I use a exhaust muff for heat it puts out plenty of warm air. At -5F cockpit is comfortable in a sweat shirt jeans long Jon’s and bare hands. Doors seal up tight and I fly with vents open. I preheat cockpit and engine before flight so it’s warm right off the start. I could fly in colder temps but if I don’t have to go I don’t. -47 with wind chill here this morning and a 172 was out flying pipelines when the sun started to shine.

How cold of weather are you guys flying in? I usually draw the line at -5F. Cockpit is toasty at those temps. It’s been hovering around -30 to -40 this week so in hibernation at the moment.

I have been planning to fly back to winters to meet up with Andy but weather and flu has put a hold on it. Dirks Merlin is 60 miles east of me also.

I am hoping it works if it’s to much I will use it as a two blade. The fellow That ordered it for me said he has tried about 30 props on his Rans and said better performance with a schmitar blade was with a blade longer than what Roman recommended especially on a slow fat wing plane If It was for a speedy RV his recommendation would be spot on. Roman recommended a 72 inch two blade Jason thought 76. I will post the results here when it arrives. 1avid I think you will love that Luga from what I remember from long conversation is the prop I am using was at the bottom of the barrel for performance warp was one from the bottom. There was a real skinny multi blade prop he mentioned that has great potential but long enough blades for the power he is developing weren’t available then.

I wish I had the room to make one of these work on my Merlin so I could incorporate carb heat and if it increased performance that would be a plus. This winter has been bad for high humidity always less than a 2 degree dew point spread causing carb ice twice. Engine runs fine at cruise but when you remove some throttle it feels like you lost a blade off the prop.

It will be ordered today. The engine builder from Alberta that is bringing it in for me strongly recommend the R107 schmitar 3 blade for my 80 hp 912 he has a 2 blade hub that I can use also to compare. The only thing that could go wrong is I will be underpowered and I will have to explain to my other half that I need a 912 ULS or a new Edge125hp to spin my prop

I have a 2 blade 74 inch Ivoprop and getting a bit of vibration above 5000 rpm. It’s tight and carbs are balanced. I am leaning towards a 3 blade because they are normally a bit smoother but I have two different lengths recommended by 2 suppliers 67 inches and 72 inches. You are in the middle with a 69 inch two blade. Now I am really confused
