For sure .060" on the doors, I've run that on the windshield as well but at full throttle it will just start to want to buckle in against the V tubes. That was on my Avid, I think I put the same .060" thick on the Kitfox windshield, but with the smooth cowl, and the way I built, it angels further forward, and probably gets a more streamlined angel to the wind. I've been to 120 with it, and didn't notice it buckling in. There is a website I've found and posted several times that makes custom skylights, for on a house, but I think they could be made to work on the plane as well. Maybe they would be more flexable on size as well if you contact them. but something like 18" X 32" may work. JImChuk

That's some really nice work. Great welding. Neil -
Thank You !! Not quite done . Needs stripes + other items. -
My Model C may be for sale this winter or next spring. Reason is I'll be starting a new project. Neil
My restored Avid model C Heavy Hauler with updates. Frame has been extended 16". Strengthen seat/bungee rail. F7a flaperon mod. Fuselage recovered in 2019, Wing covering in very good condition, Mark IV Gear, New boot and engine cowl, New Lexan on windshield, top and doors, Brakes rebuilt, New tires, Seat recovered. Great Plains built 80 Hp VW, Dual ignition, starter, etc. I've been in the test phase getting the bugs worked out. It's a great flying airplane. I need to install the wing root covers. Get the stripes put on, getting close. This is the second Avid that I have installed a Great Plains built VW and I'm very happy with this combination. Neil

I like it and would like to know more about how the engine works out for you with that 16 inch stretch I have always liked the VW. I bet its a great machine.I'm flying with a loaner prop from Prince Prop who is building my ordered prop so my specs will change. Best I can say with this loaner prop is climb is 800 fpm top speed is 95 mph. In answering your question about the engine. It's important who builds the engine. My choice is Hummel Engine and Great Plains Engines. There built for aviation use, steel billet crank shaft, duel ignition. They have been in business many years. I have had three of there engines on different planes over twenty years..If you have an extra 20+ grand the 912 might be the better choice if your flying in the mountains. Neil

Thank You, Neil -
OK I understand now. I read the stick deal on other post but didn't understand what was going on. Thank you!! NeilWhen the wings are level is the floor or the door sill suppose to be level also? Mine are not. Neil

Are the Flaperons with the F7a bellcranks adjusted the same as the standard bellcranks? Thanks, Neil

Are the flaperons with the F7a mod adjusted the same as the stock setup? Thanks, Neil

Question, In setting up the flaperons, the manual says level the wing at the third longer rib based on the right wing. At this stage the fuselage is raised at the tail until the right wing is level. Is the fuselage considered leveled even though the floor of the plane is not quite level or is there another step in leveling the fuselage in order to set up the F7a flaperons that I missed in the manual I down loaded. Thanks, Neil

Good advice. Get your license first. You will then find out what direction you want to go. Great story by the way. Neil -
Nice job!! That's real talent to be able to do work with fiber glass like you just did. -
Randy, I'm going to try a stock Mark IV rudder being loaned to me by Brad Brummett, he is also on this forum. If I like the out come I'm going to trade my enlarged rudder for his stock rudder. I'll report the out come to you. Neil -
I have a set of F7a Bellcranks for sale. 60.00 includes freight. Neil

Randy,
Very interesting. Are you saying your C model fuselage has been stretched 18"? My rudder is 24" at the widest point. What is the width of yours. Also is yours the round style rudder?
Neil

On my model C I have a round rudder has been increased in size from 18" to 24". It's in perfect condition. I would like to make a trade for a stock rudder. If there is interest here I'll post some pictures. My fuselage has been stretched 16" and I feel this is to much rudder with a stretched fuselage. Neil 419-551-1812
