It's not about strength it's about where those forces go. When the coil spring bottoms all that force goes into the fuselage and bends it.  When the bungees bottom the gear just splays more.

Yes I'm selling them. $150 each $450 total.  My reasoning is that they're about $300 each brand new so I figure used in good condition is worth at least half of brand new.  I have the wiring harnesses which is also included in the price a couple of the wires are slightly shorter than new since I clipped the sensors off that they were wired to. Fortunately the previous owner left the wires full length and didn't clip them off top exact length or remove the unneeded ones.

I've got some MGL gauges that came off my plane. You'll have tach egt cht coolant temp and pressure. These are the 2 3/4" gauges so they're not very big and light weight

I just got done putting Stace Schraders Bush gear on my KF1. I'm doing a lot more work on my plane so i can't tell you yet how it handles but he guaranteed that it would be straight when installed and it was. His gear requires that you cut off the front mounting bracket and weld on a new one that the cabane can bolt to. After doing that i would cut the ends off the cabane and weld brackets on the end so it would just be a bolt on install. Just felt really invasive to the airframe. A lot of ways to potentially screw up or damage something.

Overall i love the gear with the one complaint.  Oh yeah you probably won't be able to use the wheels, brakes,  and axels that came with your plane so factor that into the costs
As far as other mods you better inspect your flaperon hangars and see if they need to be reinforced. I'm about to start on mine. The wood looks sound but I'm doing it for peace of mind.

The wings have been hanging on the wall far too long. Just made these:

Time for 1 to come down and get the rib tails reinforced and i think the paint job is a little boring so I'm going to spice that up as well. Also going to tear into the gas tank and see about making it a little more serviceable

Anyone interested in this custom cowling I was building? Not going to be using it. Seems a shame to waste that much work so I'll let it go for $20. That's less than the materials in it. The workmanship isn't very good or at least I learned a lot doing it. Probably chop it up and toss it if no one's interested.

Here are a few more parts that could use a good home. The cowling is in excellent condition only one very small chip that I've found and without the myriad of hairline cracks that fiberglass sometimes develops.

MGL ENGINE INSTRUMENTS sale or trade
I'm not looking to sell these as much as trade them. I'm building a new panel and want to use the MGL Blaze engine monitor: https://m.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/mgl-color_universal_engine_monitor_blaze.php
I have the harnesses for these so if you have the blaze instrument with a harness that you'd like to trade I'm interested. These are about $200 each brand new so you'd be coming out ahead about $100 in a trade.  If you want to buy them i at least want enough for them that i can buy the new instrument .

Also selling fiberglass seat pan and upholstery and both aluminum control sticks and the pushrod between the 2 sticks.

Seat pan is in excellent condition no noticeable cracks and upholstery is dusty but in good condition

    Parting out KF1 FWF
I'm selling off the rotax 532 fwf from my KF1. It only had 75 hrs on it and no damage history. I expect the engine itself is pretty much a boat anchor at this point. At present i still have everything and perhaps aside from the gascolator am selling it all. Cowling,  engine mount, rotax a gearbox, dual carb with quite a few supplies to rebuild the carbs. Mikuni pump, radiator,  hoses, expansion tank coolant reservoir. It's all here. Make me an offer. Don't see it here ask.

    Aluminum wing tank repair
I just found the way Chris Bolkan repaired his fiberglass wing tanks here.
I have an aluminum tank in the right wing of my KF1 that has been unused since the original sloshing compound had been flaking off which is easily visible looking in the gas cap. I have read that those aluminium tanks were very prone to leaking as the wing flexed and broke the welds.
After just having found the above thread on cutting out a large portion of the bottom of the tank and then riveting a panel to the surface I'm wondering if i can't do something similar to my aluminum tank? Once the access hole is cut clean out the old sloshing compound and use proseal and flox on all the seams and then rivet the new bottom panel on it.

I have no idea if the tank had developed leaks before the sloshing compound started flaking off but let's just assume it has or if it hasn't yet that it definitely will. Would this repair be something that you guys would trust your precious butts to?

    Before and after
I've already posted the dumb stunt but for those who haven't read that post I left the wings folded while unloading my model 1 off the trailer and the tailwheel jumped the track and the rear fuselage smacked down hard on the trailer frame and bent the lower longeron and even got the top one a little. So here's the after the accident but before the fix: and here's the after:

And here's me and the magician that did it:he managed to straighten both bent tubes with a slide hammer. I meant to have him show me the tool and technique but we were busy with other stuff. The guy is 85 and a true artist with a welder and body work too apparently since that's where he got the slide hammer. The accident ripped the fabric at the lower longeron  and he cut the slit you see at the top longeron but otherwise didn't do any other damage to the fabric fixing it. Until recently he did most of the welding for matco. It's irritating him tremendously that age is finally catching up with him. But he can still get an incredible amount done in a short time. Without him my bird probably wouldn't fly for a couple more years.

That is the one i would have bought 2 years ago when i first started wanting a kitfox but couldn't afford it. Looks like the guys who were interested in it at the same time i was are trying to unload it.
I was only slightly more ignorant about kitfoxs when looking at this one then when I bought my model 1 and got taken on it. But having said that my model 1 is a solid airframe just a few things that need worked on and I got the same impression about this plane. But I could be wrong.

Airtrikes.net  is a retailer and their price list is here: http://www.airtrikes.net/airtrikes_pricelist_engine_prop.htm  but it looks like depending on either blade shape (straight or scimitar) 2 or 3 blade and diameter price ranges from about $900-1300.

Kitfox 1 Gear Legs $100 plus shipping
I recently installed bush gear on my bird and want to sell the original gear.
The gear was in good shape when removed from the aircraft no signs of ground loops.
There is some chafing from the straps when I hauled it from California to Utah and I cut off the brackets that held the brakes on and had them welded on the new gear. I did nick the tubes a little doing that but i think it can be dressed out. I did put a good size cut in the wood fairing in a couple places but that's easily fixable.
Not completely sure but I think the silver color is Polyspray.

I honestly don't know. Ive got 200 hrs in my logbook only 13 of which are tail wheel hours and none in a kitfox. But it is a 5% difference in wing loading/ area. I guess if you're the type trying to ring every last ounce of performance out of your plane it would make a difference.
