I’ve seen some very simple psru’s before that use a thick cogged belt that seems like there should be no limits to what we can do. Just need smarter people than me to figure out the math.

Hmmmmm, next thing you’ll say is he didn’t make you wear lipstick too

Had to have been the bolt yea? All the heim joints look intact. Also just a shower thought, was that finding the outcome of an accident investigation? Or just an observation of the post crash from the owner and company? I guess I’m asking because that bolt could have snapped during the crash, and the cause of accident be something much more standard. Not to be Monday morning quarterbacking, just asking questions from the eyes of an old army aviation safety officer.

Nick can you document with pictures? I’m assuming I knwo where this is and what broke, but having an issue conceptualizing what your fix for this was.

I want so badly for there to be a lightweight 4 stroke alternative to the 582, I just don’t know if one exists. I think the limits of prop choices is the big downfall of the direct drive genre’s. I had high hopes for the phaser motor, but it sounds like with limited torque you’ll have to run an IFA.

Is there a price list somewhere? Most curious about speedwing extensions

Kind of steeper than I’d hope, but don’t wanna take away business from mark as he presses forward. I’ll add it to my ever growing list of DIY.

Before I make some negative molds from my cowling....does anyone have them? Had a bunch of left over carbon and was gonna see how stiff a sheet of aramid 1mm honey comb sandwich between single carbon sheets could be.

I’m no chuck Yeager, but I came from the helicopter world. You can’t have lazy feet, but the aircraft responds really well to the correct inputs

I don’t have an issue with how it handles on the ground, but if I could shave any significant weight with different gear I’d like that option. Just curious.

Right of passage, all the army docs who did my flight physicals where required to have bratwurst sized fingers, on the plus side now my farts aren’t as loud.

What are the price differences? If you’re using 300hrs for the 582 I think it’s conservative. It’s been enough of a hassle trying to get mine officially approved that if I had the option to buy one with all the paperwork done is pay a lil extra.

That’s the one I was looking at, can you confirm with just this box two people can talk to each other just by plugging into the box? I imagine I’ll get a radio later, but for now just burning holes in the sky on my personal grass strip all I need is to talk to my passenger
-
So I don’t have a radio, but now that I’m up and flying, I plan on maybe going to a handheld victor, however, I’m flying with no radio and want to add an intercom because you can hear anything once that 582 gets to screaming. So...what’s the cheapest way to add an intercom and ptt through a handheld?

Didn’t realize they where structural...so maybe I can order the strut fairings from avid?

I’ve scoured the forums and some other places. My plane has the speedwing s and weighs 460 lbs. I wanna donsome of the low hanging fruit. I
1. I plan on gap sealing rudder and elevator tomorrow. Probably gonna use yellow duct tape unless someone says not too
2. I wanna run vg’s but has anyone had any vg experience on speedwings?
3. I’ve seen some people looking at challenger snap on plastic strut fairings, but I came across this article.
http://chrusion.com/BJ7/Streamline/fairings.html
I thought instead of doing one long span, just shorter runs to avoid using a long foam cutter. I was going to get make an airfoil out of thin steel, then sharpen one edge and just stamp it into foam to get 2” slices and tape them up on the strut.
any other low hanging fruit? Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

haven't heard much of this aerolux...but i don't think i'm ready to start swapping parts out on mine that work. I have a 74" culver...it's just not sexy

so I’m gonna try and get a primer “though I don’t remember mine have the little 1/8” port on the engine side of the carb”...but my pull starter broke and I think it’s a mixed situation of poor angles, and jerry rigged setup. Does anyone have a picture of the guys setup who had his pull starter coming out the side of the cowl? I’ve tried for a long time to get the factory one to work, however the boss that holds the tube the pulley bolts into has hacked off

I’m not familiar with the kitfox’s, but if a 912 adds 85# to a 582...my avid just got weighed at 458, and I think I could get it lighter if I paid more attention
E-Tec or Polaris 800 conversions
in Rotax and other engines

I’ve seen some Weed hopper 503’s use a similar exactly like that
