I got mine from AC Spruce, but you should be able to get them at the local airport FBO.  By extending the arm on the ruddder, you get more throw to the tail wheel.  I find that I cant unlock my tail wheel unless I really stand on the brake and hit lots of power.  I loike to be able to unlock it with full rudder so I can get it to swivel on the beach alot easier.

Damn Steve, I would say that you and my AI buddy are cut from the same cloth.  He said damn nearly the same thing you did in regaurds to the inspections after he did a little research when he came over to do my Condition Inspection.  It had been a long time since he had done one for an experimental so he brushed up and called his inspector from the ANC FSDO.

    Hey John,

You ben getting any stick time down there in the way to damn hot part of the country?  I made a flight to Chisik Island yesterday to run a couple boat plugs to a friend.  First time I took my bird over open water without a wingman   I forgot how much the engine misses when you are 20 miles from shore and on wheels...  I could not go over 4,500' due to cloud and smoke cover.

LMAO, so you were around for the MTOW arguments   oh those were fun.  Steve actually got me to open my eyes and read the FARs.  One thing I never knew about was the discussion part of the rulings where the thought process is written out to give you a clear understanding of what was ment by the ruling.  Kinda cool.. Thanks Steve.

Now the issue that the stooges have over there is kinda funny, partly sad, and a good sprinkling of dumbass.  Mr, I hold an inspection rating but cant read is really on a mission to push his whopping 16 hr class time knowledge.  Things that can only be learned by spending lotsa money on a 16 hr course.  Things like,
    1. how not to read or interpret the actual FARs that regulate your plane
    2. how to pull a smelly answer straight from you ass instead of the FARs
    3. how to argue that you answer is not smelly, by pulling yet one more smelly answer outa yer ass.

I am thinking you get thepicture and I dont need to carry on with a morning rant anymore

Looking good, like the cardboard patterns!

I am seeing no red flags.. I would think if i was to have anyone do an install for me, Dean would be the guy.

The plane looks good.. take her for a flight.  Put a coat of silver on the bad spots and fly it... she dont have to have a top coat to fly.

Just got back from a couple hours of sky burning (yep, it was good).  Off to go help a buddy time his 532 and get his plane in the air.

What engine are you putting on?  I have seen quite a few posts of guys sweeping the wings forward on Avids and various kitfoxes when they went to heavier engines such as the VW, 912 etc, so they did not have to put so much weight in the tail.

Have you talked to Dean about the issues?  I would think he could let you know how to fix it up.  We dont mind flying some pretty ragged stuff up here.  As long as it is sound, looks dont make too much of a difference.  Knock the edges down and put some silver on it and fly the crap out of it...

Yes sir, going exp. with it.  I have a buddy that has one he stretched in 78, extended wings etc.  He has all drawings and STC for is, but i am just going to copy his drawings and fab per those for all structural mods.  other mics. clean up mods would be my own if needed.  Several stretch / widen jobs were done under various names.  The producer, provider, bushmaster etc.  This will be a mix of all of the above, dual seaplane doors etc.  Will be a several year project would be my guess.

If there is a strength issue with a butt weld then your welder has no business holding a tig torch, wire feed gun, Stick, or oxy acetylene torch in his hand ( the short would be between the shoulder and the hold and not between the electrode and the base material) .  I am sure there are alot more stick forces at work in an A10 than on the control colum of these little planes.  The stick forces are VERY light.  Just to qualify my ever so humble opinion, I have been in the welding industry for my entire working career.  I be a certified welding inspector and am currently the QC/FCO manager over the largest maintenance/construction contract that Connoco Phillips has in the world.  I deal with all types of exotic materials including 4130.  If you were to run an engineering analysis, I am sure you could get away with just four 1/2" tack welds around the tube.  May not set well with your head looking down and seeing a gap in your life line, but it will have more than enough strength.

With all this being said, at the end of the day it is all about YOUR peace of mind when you are in the seat of YOUR plane cruising over nasty mountains in moderate turbulance.

yeah I pay for it, but I dont mind yet   I put this site up after I did some searching for a place we could talk planes, brag about your dog, or just bs about the day.  The other places were a bit strict for my twisted taste so walla.. here we are.  I am toying with the thought of upgrading the software, but we will see how many pics you can post up before we hit critical overload   I told the computer geek I did not want to run out of bandwidth or server space when we start adding videos etc, and he has assured me we wont...

Whew.  so, after all that, post up a build thread, pics, you name it.  This site is for you guys, and my personal, twisted entertainment!

and thats when the fight started
My wife and I are watching "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" while we were  in bed. I turned to her and said, "Do you want to have sex?"

        "No," she answered.

I then said, "Is that your final answer?"

She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying, "Yes."

So I said, "Then I'd like to phone a friend."

        And then the fight started....

        ******************************************

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, grabbed the dog, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked up the
boat up to the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the
radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed.  I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation,
and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."

My loving wife of 10 years replied, "Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?"

And that's how the fight started...

        ******************************************

I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes
you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it....

        He was a DWARF!!!

He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, "I AM NOT HAPPY!!!"

So, I looked down at him and said, "Well, then which one are you?".

        And then the fight started.....

        *****************************************

My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary.

She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.'

        I bought her a scale....

        And then the fight started...

        ******************************************

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive...

so, I took her to a gas station.

        And then the fight started...

        ******************************************

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's
license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go
      home and come back later.

The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair.

She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application

When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.

She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too.'

        And then the fight started...

        ******************************************

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a
        nearby table.

My wife asked, 'Do you know her?'

'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she
        hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife, 'who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'

        And then the fight started...

        ******************************************

A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I
look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'

The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.'

And that's how the fight started.....

shnikeys... ya got me there... but in all honesty I do like the flying better!  I really enjoy the time spent on the rebuild though!  so much so, that I am gonna be brining in my wrecked Pacer this winter and stretch it, widen it, and make a fat bastard killer out of it

holy crapanolies.. me thinks I am gonna stay on straight floats.. looks like it is getting busy in there.

Glad it is you and not me doing the work.  I am more into flying that tinkering and making stuff work!  Have fun with this project

On the water rudder cable... I had mine between the seats but as you said it gor busy in that area.. you have more room to deal with than I do.  I like the way Skystar did theres.  There is a little lever on the float strut just below the pilots door.  you can flip it up or down and it has a little catch to hold it up.  Works GREAT and is out of the way.  when you swap from floats it is one less cable to have to dis-connect to pull the floats.  Iwill get a pick of it when I get home if you are interested in seeing how they did it.

I like the conduit clamp idea to relocate the mounting bracket!  and I bet our dear coons cousins can figure it out based off the pics!  It sure cleared it up for me.  I think I will do the same for my "C" cause right now even with the sticks bent and agled out, I cant get full left in with a passeger stick in the hole.

    thanks for posting the pics!

looks like the builder assist and factory support was not too damn up on the product they were selling.  How the bad word could they miss the mark by so much on such an important item.

Oh well, it will still be well worth your efforts the first ime you break ground with it!  Keep pushing forward and you will be in the air before you know it!

Congrats on getting the endorsement.  But the KF probably wont feel anyting like what you just got checked out in.
