If the weather holds, I am thinking about a weekend flight to Fish Creek Lake. Should know in a day or so if I can pull it off.

That was a nail bitter for me.. Fn tit for tat the whole game and apparent the refs wanted to see a showdown between Favre, I mean fumble, and Manning.. Sumbitch I wish I was in the french quarters lastnight.. you know the titties were showing and the beer was flowing! The tail gate parties at the bowl are gonna be outta this world! With the family farm only 60 miles from N.O. I had to be pulling for the Saints!

thats a bullshit question you never stated that they had to be American bombers... just a 4 engine bomber that flew in WW II in Europe... I stand by my answers as being correct

Got rid of the boot for a lace up brace I can wear inside my regular boots... I would have been in big trouble if I would have had to pack a runway... have I ever said how much I love my floats

  7. akflyer added a post in a topic Where did you fly today ?

Yesterday I took a little 60 mile flight through the mountains to go meet up with some friends who were up snow machining. The area they were riding got dumped on with about 3-4' of fresh fluffy powder Tuesday night. I landed out on a small lake and am very glad I had the floats on cause I would still be there trying to dig out and pack down a runway. As it was, it was touchy coming out even after I made a few loops around the lake and layed down a good set of tracks to try and take off from. Deep powder and 4,500' elevation dont make for stellar performance!

I have had several different helmet cams and they all get the prop arc, boomerang, squiggly shit going. My normal good video cam does fine shooting through the prop, but something in these helmet cam sensors really dont like the prop arcs. I have found that at certain RPM it will be fine, but above or below that you just get a shit picture.

I went flying yesterday and left my good still cam at home so I took pics with my cell phone.. I will post one of each below and you can tell me which camera took which pic....

    Joey,

That is the cam that I have...the one that got my crash video I like it for the vid quality etc, but it does not have an onboard screen, so you mount it and hope for the best when you do get to download to the computer or TV.

old trick... crush one of the ibuprofen and put the powder on the tooth and gum.. Then back it with your shots.. maybe a few more per hour are in order to adequately dull the pain

    Thanks Doug!

It seems that frustration is a major part of my everyday life, so what the hell, why would I plan a vacation to be fun and without speed bumps

Joey, when we start firming up plans to head down that way we will for sure keep you in the loop. Would be kick ass to swing by and meet you some place and do a big arrival. I think if i can pull it off there would 3 possibly 4 of us for sure. We may be able to round up a couple of the Alaskan fat bastard builders to head down that way also

uhhh you us to meet u in canukistan you been eating paint chips again

Making the flight down there for oshkosh is now very high on my new found single status priority list! This year wil have to come commercial if I can swap out work weeks, but next year, I plan on making the flight myself and hopefully a few buddies. I am thinking it would be a total kick in the ass to take a leisure cruise down there!

Just got an email from the lodge this AM... wondering if I was gonna drag my ass back up there... and they want me to bring my Karaoke system with me when I come up must be bored up there with no traffic coming through Talked to a buddy that has a cabin just down the lake from the lodge and he is heading up there today or tomorrow for a week. I will find out Tuesday if I can get out of this damn boot, then will make plans to head up there! We (me and the guy with the cabin) have a spotting mission to fly when we get up there so it will be a bunch of buzzing around if anyone wants to tear up some sky!

Will post up Tuesday night after the Dr. to let you guys know the plan.

  15. akflyer added a post in a topic Opinions on Matco TW's?

I have had both also and have the Matco 6" on mine.. like bandit said, the tire weather checks quick. I think it is fine for pavement pounding, but if you are gonna do some serious off airport stuff get the 8". Mine digs into the beach like an anchor. Rocks on a gravel run way go flying 50' on each side of me on roll out as soon as the tail touches.

That would suck! I would be pissed unless it is an area that is clearly marked on charts as being off limits!

I saw that in the paper... dang near wanna cry every time I see something like that. If mine was not on floats still, I would have it in the garage every time i leave for the slope. Having it at the airport with me not being able to go check it make me nervous.

Still trying to figure out what I am going to do this time home, or if I can push a rudder pedal... or climb in and out of the avid without passing out

    Joey,

Just had the kid measure the mounts. 1" long on the rubber L.O.A. 2.250"

I can have him ship you one today if you want it. I no longer have the nose radiators and don't need them. (the ones I would ship are brand new never used)

I have a hand full of them (the ones from JBM), but they are a bit smaller I think. I can have the kid measure them up and see. They are a replacement for the rubber iso mounts for the rotax radiators. Let me know if you want me to have the kid measure them up. The rubber used in the JBM is way better than the rotax crap.
