  1. Thank you, I am sure glad I got the chance to buy them. They really are in incredible condition, I hope I can do it justice on my build.

  2. I finally got around to splitting my top cowl and it worked out pretty well, so I thought I would post some pictures.

  3. A friend of mine owns one with a Honda conversion powering it, He has owned it for quite some time but is just starting to fly it this summer. The engine was giving him a lot of grief

with cooling and other issues. I've always liked the plane, they look really nice and seem to be well put together. It sure looks like someone did a nice job on yours, it should be a nice project.

  4. Thanks guys, that’s what I thought but then started second guessing myself. I never thought of the gusset but it’s good to know. I am planning on a orange and black paint job when I get that far, I would love to see a larger picture of that one on your profile pic logtrucker.

  5. I am assembling my wings and was wondering, should I use Hysol on the drag tube brackets and rivet them to the spars or just rivet them?

  7. I figured it out, whatever Kitfox used to cut the metal tubes left a small burr on the inside of it. I smoothed it out with a round file and now the nylon tube can be tapped right in.

  8. That’s what I was doing too, it worked on my rudder and elevator hinges. I just cut them long to start and then pushed the bevel through and trimmed it off but not having much luck with the cable guides.

  9. Has anyone figured out a clever way to install the rudder guide material? Maybe i'm just tired tonight but I seem to be losing this fight, must be time to call it a day and crack a cold one.

  10. Boy thats for sure, when i bought my first one i came across this site, and i tell u all the people here r very helpful and there is lots of good advice and experience, i love this site!!!!

My son wasnt into the planes either( he is 17 and 6' tall) but he is going to a school here (hutchardson caree center) and he is learning and wanting to stick with  2 stroke motor work, mostly for his polaris sleds he builds, but them 582 r not much different, i c he gets more into the plane idea as time goes on, so in time them kids grow and they will b into it also if they into building.  But if he dont i sure enjoy build a plane in one garage stall while he builds another snowmachince in the other stall.

ya when it comes to kids you have to take what you get, They may not always be interested in what we are but if you try hard enough there is always some common ground to be found

  11. If anyone is considering installing the Jabiru engine on an Avid Flyer you can ask me any questions you may have.

I have over 2000 hours behind one.

    Hi John

I would love to talk to you about the Jabiru, especially if you have experience with the early Hydrolic lifter engines. I am dealing on one and it seams like a pretty good deal but with all the bad publicity I just want to do my home work.

  12. Spider man is my goofy 8 year old son. Which is another great thing about these planes, you can build them at home in your garage and still be part of your family. I’m partners with my nephew on a Zenair 601, everything you do to it has to be done at the hanger.

  13. I am just trying to sift through all the internet info and make a informed decision. I have rotax engines and like them most of the time, when my wallet isn’t stinging. But I would really like to try a Jabiru. Just can’t afford to get stuck with a boat anchor.

  14. Can anyone steer me in the right direction, I am looking at buying a Jabiru 2200 for my Kitfox III. I know I read somewhere the changes by serial number range. My searches are not coming up with it today. The serial number is 22A 2071 model number 2200A. Thoughts and comments are welcome I’m sure there are some members on here that can enlighten me.

  15. Hi everyone, I have been doing a lot of reading on this site and really enjoyed it. Thought it might be time to introduce myself. I’m Kent , I bought a Kit Fox III Kit and a IV from a fellow in Ontario a little over a year ago. I hauled it home built a garage and am just getting started on the build.

  16. I have some hours on the 912 version and I liked it a lot, it’s a very stable comfortable easy flying plane. I really don’t understand why there aren’t a lot more of them around.
