  2. Yea i know Tjay, but at 500 a tank plus shipping to Alaska,,,,,,, ill bet a guy would have almost 700 in each tank, and my bird havin 4 of them and id like to keep 4, thats pretty spendy i say.  Not to mention the pretty much complete disassemble of the fuse end of wings to get the two out and two new ones in.

  3. Well Chris thats cool but dont look like u had same trouble i have, ur tanks leaked? Mine dont leak yet.  Mine r full of chunks of tank sealant that r comin off inside of tanks in a BAD WAY, so that y im thinkin of cuttin them open and cleanin them.

109jb’s post of the tank cleaning out is the winning ticket in my hanger for the day!! Hahahahaaaaaa

Going to taxi the 5 from the house up to the shop/hanger in next day or so and start the tank repair.

  4. 109jb that is the best info ive cn so far, Thanks a Million, nice to have some good pic to look at.

OK, what u all have to say about cuttin open the wings, grindin and scrapin and scrubbin the cream out and reseal with KBS tanks sealant (Thanks Jim for that info) and glueing the lid backon.  Ive done some lookin and so far found not many write ups or videos on anyone doing it.  THANKS

  9. Remember the Oratex streches as much as it shrinks, when u get back the to that area heat up ur already glued fabric, keep it off the airframe and pull it where u need it and anchor it down, work smart think ahead, then shrink it down works great, ive had the come up and do the Oratex install class in my hanger for me and my friends, and ive done 3 planes now in the stuff. “ILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE OLD WAY”. When i redid the pa12 a few yrs back i killed 10.7lbs off just the fuse and tail feathers. I did a decent Oratex install info and pic on here under “Oratex on a pa12”

  12. Well as more dirt moving happens i dream of my new (to me) airplane flyin in the air!!!!!  Lots to clean after its been sittin, wireing is a rats nest of unorganized unmarked wiring, And the fuel lines could b routed better and cleaner to my liking.

But bad thing is, all 4 finerglass wingtanks have the cream in them and its peelin off, started some resurch on repair, what say u all as best or easy way to repair.  She not going to fly this summer so have sometime to fix it up right.

  15. Well guys, im sure hooked on this things we call planes, hahahahahaaaa Leni warned me back in the begining about having Airplane Sickness.
I just picked up a KF5, 0235/115hp, warp drive prop, gps, dual cockpit brakes, huge cargo (compaired to a model 1 i have now) Hahahahaaa!!! has lots of options on it, trim system, adjustable pedals, not sure what all it has and what all was avaliable then, with some luck i may get her home this weekend, the trip into the guys remote cabin where he has lived for 25+yrs and 15+ miles off the road by 4wheeler was one of the best parts of the new plane adventure. And made a good friend too boot that i can fly to and visit now and then.

  17. Yahoo TJay, thats a heck of a chore, closest ive come to that kind of project was puttin a house up on a second story concrete foundation after i had loaded it on a trailer, moved it 27 miles and lifted it up with a crane to set it, building weighed in at little over 55,000lbs. LOTS OF WORK FOR SURE!!!

  18. Dont think ive heard of .090 lexan/polycarbonate.
I used some .060on my first KF#0021 rebuild and first time i flew it at about 60-65mph in a downward slip the windsheild buckled in made a big pop and i nearly shit my pants!!
So i went to .080 and never have that problem again.

  19. Well i picked up a 07 phazer that fell of a forklift when guy was loadin it up on a pickup, super super cheap, hahahahaaaaa  she went BLAM perfectly upside down and got the top of everything, handle bars, gauge, top of cowlin, windsheild, right side ski and the leftside spindle.  Doing my resurch on the Phazer conversion and will do some parts stockin up.
But as the sled is now its a perfect runner so id like to c if u all mayb have some phazer parts i can buy to repair this machine till its heart is reborn with wings. Hahahaahaaaa

  20. Right on thanks, ben tryin to get ahold of Ian, I like William's header$750 and mount$1200 but as i have a jig for model 1 i think ill set up and build my own to save a buck to spend it else where on the repower project, and have all winter to build stuff. Think the $550 for the wireing rebuild and computer programing is very fair with Ian. Ill check out Ben havent c his stuff yet but that really first part a guy needs to b able to setup prop centerline. Thanks Buddy!!!
