  1. Hi everybody, anything new about this aircraft?
As far as I know, importer doesn't penetrate market with such price for this aircraft ... even though it is definitely not "flimsy" solution, significantly more robust then Avid I've seen here. Producer doesn't acquire essential skills for such production because they are producing all-metal SportCruiser. Only one piece produced with support from original manufacturer that is all.

We have some aircraft around from original production and original name STYLUS. I personally know 5 of them, 3 are trike-gear and 2 are tail-draggers, flying a lot. One is suffering by cracks on engine mount ( oldest one, old type of engine mount construction, 100HP Rotax ) others are in good shape, one is more then 2000 hours now. The closest is parking in the same hangar as I am, about 800 hours on clock now, but trike gear ...

  2. Hi friends,

time is running fast, I have some news regarding plane (though it is no more /for now/ shoulder-wing with Avid heritage) I am flying now.
As it was my dream to go back to taildragger, so I've made a decision. There is no too much shoulder-wings on the market here, unfortunately.

My plane is now Bristell TDO, long wing version (29,95 ft), sort of speedy all-metal plane in this category. I am keeping still STOL and rough field capability though there are certain limitations related to low-wing concept but main limitation is low position of tail feathering definitely. Cruising speed 100 - 110 kts is nice advantage (Rotax 912 @ 5000 rpm), roomy cockpit, 2x 20kg/44pounds baggage boxes in the wings, 15kg/35pounds in the back part of cockpit. Wheels are 6" low pressure due to rough terrain capability.

  3. Hi everybody,

recently I've found interesting video from altiporto Chamois in Italian Alps (altitude 5.811 ft)

The point is that there was aircraft Parrot Land Anywhere flying / sort of interesting solution, have a look:

It looks like sort of new solution for landing gear, suitable for STOL operations, isn't it?

  4. Dear friends,

this is not Avid or Fox flying but I decided to share this video I took in March at the end of my business trip through New Zealand. My job is ATC systems (Air Traffic Control Systems) development and support so I had opportunity to work for AirNav New Zealand shortly. I finished my trip there by excellent flights to Milford Sound and back to Queenstown. Beautifull mountains, clever pilot - strong memories for me. I have only iPhone video but still nice enough.

    and second part

  5. Hi friends,

I have new toy in the hands for "customer test" ordered by aviation magazine here.
Even though I have now Bristell, I am still sort of addicted to shoulder wing planes. This SKYPER is all-metal aircraft, very light, just 285kg /  628 lbs empty , but MTOW is 600kg/1322 lbs.

What is unusual for me is quite high speed for cruising available, probably due to wing profile. I had only "first date" just no more the 2 hours in the air and 8 landings. Engine is standard ROTAX 912 / 100HP and origin of the aircraft is UL category 475kg/1047 lbs now enhanced to LSA level.

  6. What kind of fuel burn does something like that have?

STV 100 HP  diesel fuel, 27kg per hour (+145 gram per hour turbine oil), weight 28kg

STV 130 HP diesel fuel 32kg per hour (+145 gram per hour turbine oil) weight 30kg

  7. Dear friends,

a little surprising information for me, but definitely big new for AVID community:

AVID TurboProp is reality in Europe.

Company Stuttgart Engineering developed STV-100 shaft-turbine engine for light aircraft - it is already known information for a while. They are working on 100HP and 130 HP variants of completely new engines.

Surprise is that they decided for first installation on AVID aircraft  ;)  I have no more news or data, just a few pictures I am sharing with you for now. Enjoy

  8. Dear friends,

last week we had the biggest aviation exhibition in Europe (for general aviation) AERO Expo 2018 Friedrichshafen. Sort of celebration for me and my friends, we are traveling nearly 1000 kilometers by car to visit this event.

This year sort of mixture appeared here as you can see. Maybe not really rational, but ...

Look at it. It is Bristell (my current aircraft type) but on the real Beringer Alaskan landing gear. I don't know, how it will work, but definitely I will ask to try it.

  9. Yea looks like the taxpayers of Christchurch will be digging deep! Oh well,if we can't get our roads fixed maybe we can fly over them.Maybe I'll get my Martin jet pack as well,oh wait a minute :lmao:

Hi, your roads are not so bad, just serpentine ;)

I was just driving from Palmerstone North to Auckland few days back. Then Auckland to Queenstown by A320 and today finally trip with Cessna Caravan to see Milford Sound and beautiful country around.

  10. Well, good information for me. I need to gather such information as here are no gush gears as common solution. Only real bush plane here is Slepcev STORCH I wrote about, but landing gear is more complicated due to historical replica matters. Btw. I didn't find any info about mentioned Fitt gear on the web ... can somebody give me a direction?

I need to collect data step by step, and hope that my day is coming closer ;)

  11. Sorry, my English is not so good, what does mean "flack" in this sentence:the springs catch a lot of flack around these parts! ? Do you mean some sort of dirt?

I am asking because my "retirement dream" is shoulder wing plane with real bush landing gear, so any experience I can learn is good for me.

  12. Yesterday  I had rare opportunity to fly this year since weather here is simply not good, rainy, low clouds, windy and usually in combination all of these elelments.

But yesterday ... nice and clean, though everything covered by snow (my 40 feet wide runway as well). I stayed in the air till dusk.

  13. Well, some clarifications ;)

@ TJay yes, brakes handle is between the seats (red one), due to tricycle landing gear and steerable front wheel it is enough "ergonomic" solution. Turning diameter is really small. And yeas again, shiny fabric on the wings is due to paintwork more close to car painting job. I was long time satisfied but as plane was older, some crackings in paintwork appeared.

@ wypaul, oil tank is on the front of FW on left side (pilot view), just a little deep position then usually, oil cooler as well on the left side with flap controlled intake. There is "header tank" 1.5 gal behind the seats, excellent solution. Mountains are Nizke Tatry (local language) means Low Tatras (max.6702 feet) and we have High Tatras as well (max 8720 feet) here, just about 20 kilometers / 12 miles north. Mountains are not very friendly to pilots here as they are very steep and not too much opportunities for landing there. But we have some airfields in valleys here, mostly agro-strips (often paved 1300x35-40 feet)  and some air clubs are here as well usually grass strips 2500x200 - 300 feet. Sometimes few kilometers in between them only.

  14. Yesterday we had first day in this here with weather not really good, but at least it was possible to take off. So I went to sky for about 35 minutes, but wind at 500ft AGL was very strong, from 30 knots gusting to 50 knots. We are at 1100 ft MSL (airfield) but it was nearly calm and I was able to climb max 3000 ft due to strong turbulence. Crazy weather.

After landing I put my Bristell in hangar just next to Stylus... and I decided to put some pictures of Stylus here again. Just to show you, how the plane is equipped and how is build, just inspiration.

  15. Nice story. Very, very similar to our experience here in the middle of Europe.

Inspector CAA/FAA are probably sort of people without borders. You can find them everywhere / and they are really the same sort.

That is the main reason why I am out of "certified category of aircraft" even with CPL and air force experience.
