chopndrag added a post in a topic Male Logic
That's funny my wife and I know a couple like that . They blow money on baseball games and drinking always pissing and moaning about money issues. The wife always asks how we do it with me working and having a airplane and various other toys , vacations etc. Her answer always has been the I work my ass off constantly , don't drink or go to baseball games everyday or week . My generation is a bunch of idiots and I'll be the first to say it .

chopndrag added a post in a topic Air Force Survey...
That's funny !!! My Dad was a Air force t-38 mechanic and my older brother was in the Army started off as field artillery then ended as a heavy truck mechanic . My brother always teases my dad about him being in the air force . I myself was never in the military, for one I turned professional riding bikes around the age of 16 and by the time I was 18 I already had a double left knee surgery and my left shoulder had surgery. Long story short my hat's off to all you guys who served no matter what branch . I know I wouldn't be able to live the life I have without you guys .

Couldn't hurt in helping protect everything. I just don't trust oil injection at all . I'm sure there's plenty of people that have thousands oh hours with oil injection with no problem. Personally I'd rather carry a couple things of oil with me when I go far enough and need fuel .

Is the doubler on the lower part of the nose gear ? Mine on my mkIV is the normal set up with the u for the wheel to sit in and a couple of gussets that go on the u where it meets the down tube

I have the fiberglass oil injection tank I took out of my mkIv. I never trusted oil injection on anything I have owned let alone a plane . To me pre mix is the way to go . Whatever you decide just remember you can't pull over in the air !

Not sure the difference between the model c and my mkIV but I have the speedwing and love it. With passenger and full fuel I'm off the ground pretty fast. I run a 582 3:1 ratio and 3 blade prop

I can try and do the pencil drawings . I'm better at measuring and welding then making a drawing of anything. I'll be at my hanger Friday morning putting my starter back in anyway.

Aluminum gets washed and treated with a etching chemical to help the powder stick. Same reason you use a etch primer before you wet paint it . Steel you can pretty much sandblast , clean and put it on the line . I worked for a company that to my surprise would powdercoat over wet paint without stripping it. This I wouldn't recommend at all .

Bare aluminium needs a chemical prep / wash to help it adhere better . Hopefully he at least put a nice thick coat on it .

I couldn't find anyone near me either . I read everything I could made notes of speeds and went for it . I was already used to lsa planes but it actually wasn't bad at all . First flight was just in the pattern . Did one and done .....

Haha , I'm wondering if we're going to find out if they are available. I'm still thinking about welding up a aluminum pod/tank or something for the extra distance . They say my tank is 18 gallons but I barely get 16 in .

That's what I did with my loehle 5151. They required hanging lead off the firewall and what not . Instead of that we filled the motor mount tubes with shot and it worked great .

Ehh if he's got the line running and doing the same color not a big deal . The company I worked for only did there stuff and is missing out on other companies and people wanting stuff done. Oh well hopefully I can get another shop going between the powder coating, paint and welding it should be a one stop shop . Right now I pick up some stuff here and there but still do the daily 9-5 ugggh.

Powder coat actually cures @ 350 for 20-30 minutes. At 400 you might get it cured around 10 minutes. If everyone was closer I could hook you up . I have a full setup with a 6'x3'x3' oven

If I was closer I would weld it it up for you no problem . I'm sure there's a local weld shop in your area that can knock it out quick .
Ed if you don't have a muffler on your plane now putting glass packs should give you a little boost in performance. Back pressure helps a little and you might have to readjust your carb .
