Hi Ed if I don't get any reasonable offers I may just keep this and finish it after I finish my avid model c. How much do you want for the engine mount, cowl, and Flaperon? Are they from a model 4? What engine is the mount for?

    Thanks

Thanks Ed. It's a good deal even if it had standard gear. The grove gear makes this a steal. Should make somebody a great head start.

    Best regards

FS: Kitfox Model 4... Bradenton, FL. $5500 O.B.O.
Hi all this is a Kitfox Model 4 that the original owner damaged the wings on landing.  He bought a new wing and has them built to the point of almost ready for covering.  New covering material is included.  The original owner passed away 3 years ago and the plane was giving to his best friend.  It has been sitting in his garage for the last 3 years and I purchased the project off the friend.  It needs flaperons, engine mount, cowling, and one wing tip.  These are the known items.  There is a main tubing in the fuselage where the rear spar attaches that is slightly bent.  I'm thinking this tube could be heated and bent to proper location; I've attached a picture showing this bent tube.  New 4130 chromally tubing is included to replace the tube if you so choose. The bent tube is on the pilot side of the aircraft.  Overall the plane is in good shape and will make somebody a great quick project.  One huge plus is this Kitfox 4 already has the Grove Landing gear and brakes.  A new firewall has been installed and a brand new windscreen is included.  The interior is in great shape and as many all ready know this has the more desired flaperon mixer alreay installed.  Please feel free to email me for any questions you have.  turbofanelectrics@yahoo.com

Thanks TJay that video was perfect! Looks like touchdown near 50mph which is right where I was hoping.

Hi Dan that is the information I needed! Thanks for the reply. Curious what you've done to your plane for speed improvements to you plane?

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply Ed. I've heard numbers on the speedwing all over the chart. I just don't want to be touching down at 60mph in this type of plane.

    Thanks

Nobody has flown a standard speedwing? The specs are showing about a 10mph speed difference for both cruise and stall. Is this accurate? Showing a stall speed on the speedwing as only 42mph. Is this a bit optimistic?

    Thanks

Ed I would be tickled to death if these speed wings land like a j3.

300' per minute climb seems rather dismal.

Seems that would be the best of both wings and is what I would do if starting from scratch. My wings are built already and covered. Would love to hear first hand experience of the flying qualities of the standard speedwing.

    Thanks

Avid speedwing.... Impressions from those that have flown one?
Hi all I'm finishing the construction of a newly acquired avid model c speedwing and I've noticed on this website most say to either extend the wing or go with the HH or STOL wing. Curious why this is? I'm flying out of a 3500' grass runway out of Florida so stol is not needed. Would prefur speed over stol. For those that have flown the standard speedwing what are your thoughts?

    Thanks

    Electric elevator trim
Hi guys I'm working on my electric elevator trim. This is a model C and came with no provisions for a trim tab. Since my elevator is already covered I'm adding a trim tab to the rear of the elevator that will be actuated by a servo. My question is since the servo is mounted in the elevator how do I route the servo wires from the elevator into the fuse? Is it alright to drill a hole through the leading edge spar of the elevator? Anybody got a pic of how you routed your wire out of the elevator?

    Thanks

  20. William Davis added a post in a topic Trailing edge ribs glued in the wrong position....Thoughts?

Thanks all for the responses. The Flaperon has not been drilled in place yet and is clamped in place. Making a scarf joint may work but not sure I feel comfortable making it strong enough. I may do more damage. Is it possible to heat the trailing edge ribs up with a heat gun and reposition then reglue in proper position. I could cut holes on the covering to get the heat gun in and then re patch the wing when finished? I would have to of course reposition the ribs and I wonder what this would do to the covering on the bottom of the wing. Think it would develop a large wrinkle? Think the top covering would stretch enough?

    Thanks

Perfect! That helped me really visualize where they go. My kit is also missing the pieces that mount inside the turtle deck and fuse that captures the Flaperon tube. Do you know what material and diameter they are made from?

    Thanks,

Trailing edge ribs glued in the wrong position....Thoughts?
This forum has been great helping me through the final build of my newly acquired avid flyer model c. I purchased the plane already built and covered with the wings rigged but flaperons yet to be installed. The manual calls for the Flaperon control horn tube to be 3/16" above the welded fuselage tab. Well I got my right side to about 1/2" above the welded tab. This is 5/16" higher then the manual states but is still fine as when the turttle deck in installed the Flaperon control horns don't hit until the very extreme position. Now the left Flaperon is a totally different story and he is where the problem is. My left Flaperon control horn tube is 1 3/16" above the welded fuselage tab, this is 1" higher then it should be and when the turttle deck is installed the Flaperon control horn hits the turttle deck. I tracked down the problem to the first 3 root trailing edge ribs; they are NOT in trail with the other ribs. Since both of my wings have fuel tanks the tanks take the place of 3 main ribs, but have you glue 3 trailing edge ribs that run from the rear spar to the trailing edge wire. The position of these ribs at the furthest aft point is to be determined by clamping a long aluminum tube to the other remaining ribs, that are full length so the trailing edge of these ribs are set by the rib design, then one by one glue in the 3 trailing edge ribs clamping them to the aluminum tube to set the proper height of the end of the rib I relation to the rest of the ribs. If my wing wasn't already covered and painted beautifully i wouldn't be so apprehensive of what I'm pretty sure is the only fix; to strip the wing of covering, re position the 3 trailing edge ribs, then recover and re paint. Anybody have some advice you could give me, would be much obliged.

    Thanks
    Bill

Hi EDMO ive considered going full lexan but decided that will add extra time and money and I really want to fly. Perhaps I will do that as a mod once flying.

    Thanks for all the responses,
