I'm sure some have.  I know someone here who did it on a Kitfox 1 that had the same style door.  He also widened the fuselage at the same time.  I think it would be pretty easy to do for someone who has the proper skills.  JImChuk

thanks jim, i started working on it this week. have some cutting and welding to do.  1,make new lift struts  2 take left turn out of vert stab. ( right hand prop) 3.modify doors. sometime in it's life a former owner decided to beef up up the firewall for a VW and went crazy with 2 inch by .125 steel strap so will be removing some of that. should have it flying by july. thanks for all your help.  Bill

I had a 2200 generation one Jabiru in it.   Worked pretty good.  I would do another again.  I have another MK IV project, and I'm debating between a 912 and the Jabiru for it.  I sold my Avid about a year ago, the new owner loves it last I heard.  He had about 50 hrs on it by then.  JImChuk

would love to have a jabiru, just a tad out of my retirement budget! guy has a gen 3 for sale on barnstormers for $12,000. zero hours. i'm going with a predador 670 v-twin which is a honda clone. have one in my ultralite which is putting out about 36 hp @3800 rpm.  an after market cam will bump it up to 44 hp @ 4600 rpm which should be enough for avid  with an 425 pound ew and 850 gw although performace won't be great.

HKS may be am option as well.  Friend has one in a Skyraider 2.  60 HP 4 stroke.  Enough power in a light enough plane.  Guy used to post here who had one in a C model.  He has youtube videos of it flying.  JImChuk

Hope you did take into consideration when wings are folded on my plane, (which don’t believe with the seat says, foxes upholstery was cheaper than Avid’s) there’s only quarter inch of clearance from the strut faring to the fabric. See attached picture

On every Avid and Kitfox I widened I had to taper the lift strut fairing to make room for the wider fuselage.  This is my last Kitfox 4 lift strut.  JImChuk
