912 ignition modules

How much cooling (if any) do 912 moduls require?

I am in the process of tracking down randome stumbles and alarming surges in an early 1000+hr 912

we believe we have the carbs sorted and have now finally located a broken pickup wire (there may be more)

the plan is to relocate the modules behind the firewall away from engine heat and vibration using a slightly longer and replaceable loom.

there will be no significant airflow but the plastic case and lack of cooling fins leads me to think these dont generate any real heat.

has anyone measured the heat buildup on these?

They don't need cooling. They are designed to be in the engine compartment environment. I would advise against putting them on the cabin side of the firewall. Your spark plug leads will be excessively long.

Mounting the ignition CDIs on the "fixed" part of the engine mount is fine.

Note the location, just above, really behind, the carburetor.
