Nice evening in the jet

Flew my first local flight after my deployment tonight. Took off just before dark and got a nice sunset coming up thru some weather. Met a receiver down by LA and passed some gas. Nice to see something besides sand dunes. Feel fortunate to be able to do this for a living!

For all of the sacrifices you guys make, you should get this kind of reward on every flight...

Really great pictures Joey.  I seem to recall that you started out as boom operator (probably wrong terminology)  on KC135s.  Are you floating back and forth between assignments?  I don't think the C5A is used in refueling....is it?

Yes I started my career as a KC-135 Boom Operator. Did that for 7 years and then had an opportunity to become a C5 Flight Engineer. Did that for 9 years and I just cross flowed over to the KC-10 as a Flight Engineer. The KC-10 is a DC10-30 Freightliner. Fun jet to operate and I get to do a lot more pilot stuff than I did on the C-5. I am super lucky to have had the opportunity to be qualified in three different airframes. That does not happen very often.

That's funny! The inside of the boom alone holds about 100 lbs. Merry Christmas everyone!
