Lost a Good Friend Today

A sad day for me today; a good friend and pilot who has been a great teacher and mentor for me here was killed yesterday from a prop hitting him.  A retired AF fighter pilot, commercial airline pilot and owner and operator of Alaska Cub Training Specialists here on Wolf Lake; also one of my closest flying safety nets. He brought my spare prop to me just last summer after I took it out and stranded myself in the middle of the Matanuska River.  I always knew if anyone could get to me he could, and he would be ready to help any time; just as he did for many others.  Jay Baldwin; a great pilot, instructor, family man, poet and friend; he will be missed by many.

Fly safe friends, and especially fly saved.

All of us should hope that we have a good friend who can say some kind words about us after we've gone West, or maybe even before we go.

You did well Randy.   Sorry for your loss of a Good Friend.

Sorry for the loss Randy. Condolences to Jay's family.  Things like this just don't make sense other than he was called home....

Oh, so sorry Randy, what an awful accident. I trust your friend Jay is eternally giddy now, called to an unlimited number of exciting new sand bars with all his long lost buddies and the good Lord riding shotgun. Peace be with you brother.
