Color sanding

More painting questions, I'm painting my plane using poly tone .I painted the cowling it looks ok but I'm wondering if I can color sand it to smooth it out for a better shine? Thanks rusty

I'm sure you could color sand these items as long as there's enough paint thickness there.

Poly tone is a soft paint, however. It will scratch and wear quickly. You may be better off with the natural satin finish it leaves to match the fabric. That's just my opinion.

You can wet sand it and buff it to a shine.
