dreamel works great for making the number 8 rib fit
Also I'm not sure if avid did it like kitfox or not but on all the hanger ribs there is a small piece of plywood that goes between the rib and the spar on each side, Needs to be glued in at the same time your gluing the ribs to the spar,

When I say the wing I mean the flaperon hangers, the front of my flaps just touch the hanger,

That would be my thought as well, Now on Rons plane if the horns are not hitting the turtle deck and the control rods aren't binding on the frame that says that something else is stopping the control stick movement, My guess is the front of the flaperons are hitting the wing, If that is the case he might have misread the angle gauge, Might be pulling 25 degrees flaps instead of 15? Just a thought,

I Kinda started with the same issue, My right flaperon horn was clear any way I had my flap lever but the left horn was hitting the turtle deck with full flaps,  Pissed me off more than anything because I made sure those horns were riveted in the correct spot, sure don't want to see a extra bump in the turtle deck so level and re-leveled again, came to find out the tube which my left turtle deck hinge is mounted on was welded a 1/4 inch higher than the other side, Screwed everything up, so pulled the flaperon off and welded the small tabs on the top at a lower angle dropping the horn down a 1/4" problem solved, full 15 degree flaps, full stick movement left and right, now when the control stick stops the front of the flaperon is just touching the wing rib each direction I believe it is at 26 degrees, Don't know if it helps but its what I did,

If I was in your situation I would just order a small sheet of plywood and make what you need, If you are trying to keep it original that is, Kitfox uses the 17 3/4 centers on all there planes, if your in a hurry just do that, but you got a long long long ways to go before your flying, at this point you can make it how ever you want,

I thought I read somewhere that you pull full flaps then start moving the stick left or right and also while pushing the flap lever forward, as the flap lever is pushing forward the stick will continue to move, when you get to full left or right that is your maximum flaps settings, Think I read that but not sure I totally agree with it, when I do it with mine I end up with only 12.5 degrees of flaps,

I think you remove it then where your trailing edge sits on the cap strip you need to file the wood down so the trailing edge is flush with the top of the cap strip, hope that makes sense, If you take pictures of what your doing then ask questions you will get a lot more answers, Terrible hard to describe things with words, at least for me it is,

If it is Magnetic you might be able to hold the magnet on the outside of the fabric under the wing and move it closer to grab it. Or move it, then loose it and never see it again,

I just did it because I thought it looked cool, I think the book calls for something like a 3 inch diameter half circle cut,

Need some other opinions here the book says to level the fuselage for doing the board deal to set the flaperon 1 inch below the front spar, Ok but now that everyone is using digital levels should I be leveling the wing instead? When the bottom of the fuselage  is level the front spar of the wing at the root end is 1/2 inch lower than the trailing edge of the wing, Or is this how the under-camber wing flies?

since I'm only a border line genius, I can only give my opinion, here is what I think is happening, I really don't think these are giving true differential effect, It appears to me that the only way they work is when you set the flaps to a negative reflex of lets say 4 degrees, so when you push the stick over the trailing edge of the down flap travels lets say 8 degrees but in reality its only 4 degrees below level, Now since the trailing edge of the flap going up started 4 degrees above level and now moved 8 degrees up its actually 12 degrees above level, now the boys that have these and are using them can correct me if I'm wrong but that's the way it looks to me,

Hey I like that aluminum wing is that like a honeycomb wing rib like Bd-4 uses I love that airplane and just my opinion here but I do think if kitfox would go away from the wood wing ribs the plane would be more appealing to builders,

Thanks for the pics I see some braces on the other bell cranks too, I messed with the f7a arms again today.  tried everything I could think of longer rods up to the wings, different angles on the f7a arms, Had them at one spot where they worked but when I pulled the flap lever up even an 1/8 inch they would go the other way again, Odds are I won't use them, and with my bigger tail It probably wouldn't make any difference, I do like the extra bracing, think I will do that, Ha and I thought I was done welding on this thing,

No I don't have any time in one, But there is one flying close to me and I see it every once and a while, I tried to buy one last year but I was waiting on my challenger to sell, When it did the red and black sonerai that I wanted was gone, And now that I am close on the Kitfox I'm not looking for anything for a while,

Well I looked at it a bunch again tonight and kinda figured out how it works, But I really don't think its compatible with the Kitfox 1 system. When I bought them years ago Airdale did say these are for a model 3, and wasn't sure they would work in the model 1.  When I pull flaps it is twice as bad, that tells me that the threaded rods need to be shortened to get the correct Horizontal and vertical  movement, well if I did that I would need to make longer rods going up to the flaperon horn or move the horn down do I don't have 6 degrees of negitive reflex In all honestly not sure it worth messing with, I flew the hell out of my Quad City Challenger and never did it bother me, I'll play with it tomorrow for a bid too and see if there is a simpler fix and let you guys know, Otherwise I may have a nice set of kitfox 3 F7A arms for sale.

Leveled the under side of the plane  as described in manual
with the stick in the center both flaperons are 0 degrees they both do the same thing, I was wondering if that was right, maybe the f7a arms don't work with the kitfox 1 mixer set up, I cant see any way to make it work right,

Are the F7A arms working right
Ok started final flaperon rigging today tell me if they are working correctly or not, Because I'm not sure, this test is done with the stick all the way to the left,
Right wing flaperon trailing edge is down 20.5 degrees
Left wing flaperon trailing edge is up 16.6 degrees
Is this how it is suspost to work or is this backwards,
