Are you retiring 279AF and making this your primary airplane? Are you planning on a gear swap as well? Im just being nosey. Good luck with the 912 I think you will like it way better.

If your gonna spend the money kitfox wants for the spring gear that should have a ton of custom work done to be considered bush worthy, Maybe you should be looking at grove spring gear, there is a tone of them flying off airport with great success. Something to think about.

TJay added a post in a topic KItfox 1 vs KitfoxIV tail section size
I bought a Kitfox 1 from Jim a few years ago, I don't regret doing business with him, Great guy to have on your side. I had a 503 on my challenger but if I was buying another plane with a 2 cycle I would definitely go with the 582.

Seems like you can reuse the sand once or twice but after that the sharpness is gone and takes way more time. Just my experiences with blasting

I still like Joey's set up the best would like to hear more peoples experience with the tk-1 set up, I see Kitfox is now selling them too. When I watch Trent's videos it sure looks like the air frame enjoys that set up as well. Its just a lot of damn money for 4 Nitrogen shocks and a very small amount of welding.

Ha I had to send the file to the DAR before I had them made, He said he would accept that font. And the letters are right at 2 inches tall.

That was cool, How high were you? I use to get scared at 3000AGL in my challenger with out doors. If I was in that thing my pants would be soaking wet.

I used the router table to get mine down close, Worked really well but I did spend probably 10 to 15 hrs sanding and polishing with the hand held disk sander to get them smooth. There is so much material on them things, I don't think taking .008 off top and bottom lost much strength at all and if it did the thickness of the spar made up for it.

TJay added a post in a topic 582 blue head radiator hose routing
I wonder if you shouldn't try to just eliminate the cheek radiators and install the belly one down low and try to fly like that. It must work alot of kitfoxes in hot hot climates flying. Worth a try

Ok Ill show you guys how to do it. I have used this method for years and years. And don't cost anything. The straps stay out of the way for complete assembly of the parts. These little springs, I could squash them down all the way if I wanted to.

I was watching tree house masters last night and they landed a plane in the Denali National Park on a snow covered glacier. I sure do like the country side you boys fly in.
