Nice Bird there I like seeing some model 1's getting rebuilt that is one of the models that started it all.
You went to A&P school? How long of a process is that? I would love to rebuild the bigger birds.

Good to know,  Cordura 1000 is actually what I made my baggage compartment out of. So for you upholstery guys what is the normal fabric on seats the 500 cordura of the heavier 1000?

I looked at mine for hours before I had it covered and I thought a bought half way between the turtle deck and the tailwheel would be the least amount of tubing I really think it would only take about a day to complete it. At this point I wish I would have done it but maybe on the next one. Need to head down to ED's house and buy another project or two Ha

Welcome it is so nice to see new members and new builds it just amazes me how many unfinished Avids there are out there.  This forum is better than any build manual and now with Avid starting the business up again things are looking good for everyone.

I second what ED says copy the kitfox 4 rib. If you are making them from scratch you could easily build them with a wood flaperon hanger off the back of the rib. Unless you want to go the extra mile and and make different hangers as well either way use the ribs that work.

Tha'ts pretty cool wonder how long the Nancos would last going down the highway. Those two tubes on the back of the plane for this attachment I sanded the edges smooth and covered fabric right over them because I had no idea what they were for ha.

Leading edge airfoils told me once to never  use an impact gun on an aircraft engine. I said I have pulled  hundreds of clutches off of snowmobile engines that way.  They said doesn't matter just don't do it. And I never have.  So its up to the buyer.

So when you guys mount that style ski Is it like a 3/8th rod that slides all the way through the axle?  Also what do you do with the bearing grease cap?
