I am thinking either the Carbon Cub SS or Kit Fox?
S7 or the CC SS? Which one and why?

So how much does a 582 weigh full of water with radiators, etc? Around 100#? I sure would like a 100hp 4 stroke!
Did I hear that right they were fixing to have a place in Mississippi? That's right next door!

Thanks Paul! That is sort of what I did, put one bolt in backwards and drove it out with the other. I'll make one with a point for the other side because it is going to be a booger!

  11. Fly-n-Low added a post in a topic Cabane installation

I am having problems getting the cabane mated with the front gear and the front attachment points. One side took me a while to juggle it around so I could get the bolts in. I just need some help to persuade it into place. I have an awl trough the other side... But it is going to take some work to get a bolt in it! Using awls, line up punches etc.
Thanks anyway. BTW I used the smaller size winch straps to compress the springs as mentioned by a member on here. It is nice to find good advice!

This is SO cool. Radials are the coolest engines!

  13. Fly-n-Low added a post in a topic Bought an Avid Speedwing, need advice

What kind of wires? The standard white insulated aviation wires last a long time. Mine was built about in the same time frame. The bungies were fine when I bought mine. I cut them off to install the bush gear. Do your have the cables for a fail safe in case they break? What prop? My spinner came from Warp Drive. As for the noise, get a nice headset. I like a David Clark.

Turn it into a short approach. I used to do it for practice as a student when I flew out of a controlled airport. I would make one turn from downwind to final.

Those are the ones that Leni told me to get. Skidoo rear springs if I remember correctly. AirDale bush gear mod to 2" travel.
I am getting a buddy (an AI) to help me. One of us has to pull and while the other manipulate awls and centering punches. May require long wood clamps too???
I think "cabane" is French for "pain in the ass"!!!

  16. Fly-n-Low added a post in a topic Fiberglass and epoxy to reinforce flaperon hangers?

It can be done though. That is why I said to soak the "end" of the wood.
I have a mid 80's Checkmate that has an encapsulated balsa core. It is perfect. If you seal it up, you're good. The problems with stringers and transoms usually comes from not sealing them off properly when drilling holes to add accessories, motor mounts, etc.
That said, mine are in good shape and are painted and will remain that way.

I second what Snipe said. The rye we have down here grows in clumps. Will your area support Bermudagrass?

Sounds like it would work to me. Like Paul said, you'll never get it to make the corners. I would just put a piece(s) on both sides. Matt would probably work better than cloth as it is multi directional. After you sanded it smooth, I would make sure to seal the ends with the epoxy.

    Quad Hands
I just ordered a couple of these. Should be "handy" when doing circuit board work or many things really. I fly RC planes, drones, helis etc. so this will sure help with that!

I wonder if toluene would have worked. That is what we thinned and reactivated the yellow glue we used on deicing boots.

    Yea, great leaf blower!!!
    Here's another. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7yBWfqHjDQ
I watched a video of a hot chick in a bikini flying one over a lake. It looked to be flown (changing direction) by shifting one's weight as she was standing.
I wonder how much $$$$ that guy had in the first one? He sure needed a few gyros!!!
