Thank you. I remember one from years ago. With the lack of the 150s, it makes sense to discontinue I guess.

    Conumdrum..............
A friend has a small cache of planes. A Champion, a Cessna 150-150, and a Grumman 450 Ag Cat.
They are all supposed to fly!!!
The Champion has damage history and has had the wing replaced.
The 150 is a beater, but is still there. Needs a LOT of TLC!!!
And the Ag Cat... That is really the one I want to fly!!! LMAO!!!
    What should I offer? 25K?
I like the 150-150. Anyone know of a conventional gear retro? Seems like I remember one.
    The Champion can go.
I would like to play with the Ag Cat. Everyone I talk to say they are just big ole babies!!!

  3. Fly-n-Low added a post in a topic Done getting bit in the ASS by toe brakes

My experience with brakes and tail wheel is the brakes didn't cause the ground loop.
I was taught "toes off the pedals" during landing. I've had to add brakes with a stiff cross wind, but that was a Citabria with huge pedals.
My Matco brakes work fine, holds a full throttle run up, even picking up the tail. That's with the small tires though.

nlappos, I wasn't completely damming an engine, more like questioning it and open up a dialog. Like I said, I have seen one make metal locally that wasn't even close to TBO. Thanks for the video though. That clears some things up.

Is it that obvious? No I was serious. I like the motors, it just seems that some of them don't last to TBO. But then like Allen said, maybe it was partially due to owner abuse?
The new turbo EFI motor is sweet. Not sure I want to bite off that much though.

    Rotax 4 cylinder opposed engine
    Seem to be having problems....?
I loved they developed the engine, but a local guy lost his... Started making metal....???
And look on YouTube and you'll see plenty of rod spitting.
    NO THANKS!!!

I have one of those too!
Thanks for the invite BryceKat! They have a get together close to here too, in Monroe. The guys bring their campers (full of planes). So they camp, cook, and drink and act a fool also. The past couple years they have been flying planes with LEDs in the wings and such at night. My friend has one of these:https://www.flexinnovations.com/product-p/fpm3180.htm

Here is my Timber. You can't see it like with the lights in the wings and fuse, but still cool.

A friend of mine has Lyme's disease. Another of my FaceBook friends has it also. She gave me this link about mineral balance (for lack of better words) and I thought it may be helpful, although you seem very knowledgeable on this subject.

  10. Fly-n-Low added a post in a topic One blade....

I was always told that "physics said" one blade is more efficient. According to the pilot, such is not the case. I would be worried about an unbalance thrust because of he one blade. I know two or more isn't perfect when you take the AOA in to consideration.
It would make for an interesting conversation piece that is for sure!

I just happened across this looking for a radial air freshener.
    What a contraption!!!

Oh, here is a link to one of the air fresheners I found if interested.

Maybe a blanket or small sleeping bag? I have a few of these lanterns. They are pretty small when they fold up. https://www.ucogear.com/candle-lanterns/original-candle-lantern-kit-l--an--kit?returnurl=%2fcandle-lanterns%2f
I used to work at a Beech FBO. The KingAirs had a venturi thing on the bottom of the plane that would create a vacuum and disperse the liquid. Like cabin pressure wasn't enough... Anyway it had a tube for the pilot and copilot. Not sure how well it would work with a stick though.

LOL!!! You didn't watch the video, did you?
I would rather it saddle on tubes running fore and aft and vertical. I would also rather buck rivets as they are cheaper...

I helped to put a seat in an AgCat once. What a PITA... Anyway, it was like trampoline material. The tubes ran fore and aft for the bottom and vertically for the back. The tubes were spaced out so it was like sitting in a sling of sorts. Very comfortable and cool in the summer heat. They didn't have AC in this one!

Cool! Most of my planes have floats. I just love the foam planes. I have a Beaver by FMS that is 2 meters (with floats btw). I also have an FMS Kingfisher I am planning on setting up an FPV camera system on. It came with the fixture as well as floats and snow skis!!! With all my boats I was wanting to fly down the river... when it goes down... LOL!!! Also my FPV goggles have a record function that should be neat to watch the video.

Foam board cheap plane. You have to build it. 140 bucks or so depending on your RX and how many glue sticks. I went for the six channel RX so I could have flaperons.
Latex paint, Flowtrol and water make a barrier for foam unfriendly paints!
The next one is CRAZY. High wing TWIN power. And the tires!!!
Did I mention I am retired???

    Flying RC
Anyone else? I started off with a Trex 500CF 3D heli believe it or not. I did have 3 months of sim time though. I could do pretty well. But it was nick-named "Shovel" because its love for ground.
Been flying fixed wing lately. I bought a Horizon Hobby Sport Cub with huge tundra tires of course. Also upgraded the prop to an APC 2" larger in diameter and increased pitch by one. This puts a heavier load on the electronic speed controller (18 amp) so I only use full throttle in short bursts. I know it will take off, no flaps, in 8 feet or so and climb vertical! I get to 100' and I throttle back to half and it will fly for well over 5 minutes. Unless you are doing loops, rolls, snaps, Cuban eights, etc.
I have taken measures for better cooling of the ESC. But I am modding it to take a larger motor and a 35 amp ESC... plus going from 3 to 4 cell.
To add the plane is foam and is very resilient. Mine has been in, and fallen out of a tree once, ballooned on landing twice bending the gear, and landing quartering down wind it blew me into the rough, and broke the prop shaft. So far I have not had to buy any parts, less a motor. Parts are readily available even though it is discontinued. They still make the same bird but is called Carbon Cub.

    The Storm
Here we go!!! Looks like we may get the east side of the storm. I sure hope it shifts to the east. We are looking at 6-8 inches. And some of the local tributaries are just now getting close to a normal level. The Mississippi is still very high though. It was high last year too. Another suck ass year for river boating. Or flying because there are no sand bars.

  20. Fly-n-Low added a post in a topic A better way starter solenoid

No, it is not. Some of the solenoids mounted on the starter also use the electromagnet built into the solenoid to engage the bendix. You could not just take it off and use a starter relay type solenoid. Sure the starter will spin, but the bendix won't engage.
The older GM starters are like this as many others are. Now the older Fords had the solenoid on the fender. And I correct myself as the older fords used the outer windings of the starter for the electromagnet to pull down a steel lever that engages the bendix.
The type that uses inertia has very course threads (if you will) on the shaft to engage the bendix. The shaft of the starter spins faster at first forcing the bendix up the "threads" to engagement.

Does it have holes for a spanner in the gland nut? Either on the side or on the end? I've put the barrel in a vise and used a pipe wrench to loosen the nut. If all fails, find a hydraulic shop. I am lucky to have one fairly close with a great owner.

Does it have another hole? Some have a keeper ring that you have to knock out, but they have two holes.
