  1. Thank you for all your input. Sorry for the delayed reply. I've been slammed at work the last week and I've have been to California and to theWashington coast the last two weekends.

JimChuk, I would love to take you up on your offer for the $10.00 peices. I will send you a PM with my address if you could please send me yours.

  2. Thats good news Joey. Hope you have a great flight. Hope your Pops goes up with you. He needs some airtime.

My Dad is coming down that way next week to look at some property. I'll have him swing in and grab those gear legs.

Thank you for the input. Ill look Bear Perkins up.

  3. I wanted to share a few photos of the engine on my Avid Mark IV. It's a gray head 582. It's never ran since rebuilt. The engine was pickled before stored.  I don't care for the braided lines. I have a few things to change. The carb sockets, throttle cable adjuster cover grommets, and a few fuel and oil lines. No gas was left in the carbs.

Please look over the pictures and let me know what you think. It's always good to have a second set of eyes.

  4. I would say they used an inferior glue. I was still able remove the glue just by scraping it off with the edge of a razor knife.

What do you charge for your rib ends JimChuk?

  5. That's perfect. Is Hysol used to glue and rivet these into place?

This looks to be an open up the wing modification. I was hoping to repair this broken rib and get it in the air soon. Would you consider it exceptable to repair the rib now and open it all up this winter when I have time to do all of them at once and the plane is down due to weather?

  6. I have a real good outlet for custom plywoods here in my home town call Windsor Plywood. I can even get small peices.

I'm interested in the .025 aluminum angle upgrade also.  I happen to be building a Zenith 701 and have a metal brake and just enough skill to make me dangerous :). Does anyone have a photo of this upgrade or could give me a good discription of how it's done?

    Thanks

  7. The previous owner didnt pay attention whIle folding the wings and let one of the ailerons turn the wrong direction causing the inboard rib end to break off. The center attachment point broke out of the center of the other two wood peices. It's an easy repair. My question is what material (type of wood) and glue would you guys recommemd for this repair? I can post pictures tomorrow.

    Thank you

  8. I've been going over this Avid and a few things I've found need addressed. Overall it's in great shape.

I don't like the floor boards. When I got the plane it had black rubber mat covering the whole floor. It had swelled to the point that it was ugly and it was covered in 2 stroke oil from the oil reservoir (oil injected) leaking from a broken fitting. I cut the rubber mat out and it looks good underneath. It's your standard paneling made into four separate sections. I don't like how it's made and would like a better fit and color of stain. I was.wondering what you guys have done for flooring.

Is their an upgrade to these seat belts?

My plane does not have the provision for a nose wheel like other Mark IV's. I do have a complete nose wheel set up for an Avid and I'm giving some thought of welding the collector from my other airplane into this one. This is sounding like a winter project. I prefer a TD but my Father would like to fly this plane too and it would be nice to have the option of switching it around.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  9. That sounds great Joey. Bring those gear legs for sure. I have a set of Matco brakes off of the donor plane. Thanks for the pictures of the brake peddles. We will have to talk more about that mod.
