I agree. I’m at 14 degrees on the GSC.
So before the pitch adjustment I was running 1250 to 1300. After adding one degree of pitch it run 1150 to 1200. It will still climb over 1200 during cruise.  One more degree should put me right where I want to be.
I’m still buying a new gauge. I’ve not had good luck with Westach. I’m going with the Micro 1000.

Well in all fairness it only takes 10 mins to change the jetting.  It’s actually the easier of the two jobs.

Update: one more degree of pitch helped but still saw 1150 to 1200 in straight an level flight at 6100. The temps seem to build the longer I stay in cruise.  Putting the plane in a slight climb brought the temps down to 1050. Climb temps still look good and I’m turning 6100 in climb. WOT straight and level produced just over 6700 rpm.
What do you think guys. One more degree of pitch or needle adjustment?
Im close to being happy with the results. I just don’t like seeing the temps climb over 1200.

After talking with a few guys about thier rpm at climb out I'm running a bit higher RPMs. I'll add a degree of pitch and see what happens.

Lol......I don't see why that wouldn't work. I've seen three engines with the needle installed on top of the white cup.

I need an IVO IFA. Do they still sell them. I don't see used for sale often.

No I'm bottomed out. The book said initial settings was to place the clip in slot three. I'm in slot four now.

Flight two was better but still running to close to 1200 in the mid range. Idle good, WOT good, 5800 to 6100 a little high. When the engine is on the main jet the temps are good so it is with climbing. I contribute this to proper jetting and load. Temps climb in cruise when the nose is lowered and the engine unloads. I am going to try one more degree of pitch to see how it effects the high mid range. I can literally cool the engine just by starting a gentle climb. Climbing at 55 mph yealds 6400 rpm right now. More to come.

  9. NorthIdahoAvidflyer added a post in a topic Radio

Update: I installed a two hole 12 volt (cigarette lighter) outlet mounted to the center section. Just under the passenger side seat. I wired it directly into the battery on a fuse. I purchased one of the battery packs with the 12 volt plugs for $10.00. Now I can run my intercom and radio off ship power. I have to say that today's flight was the first time I had not had an issue with my radio in a long time. It was great to not get halfway through a flight and the battery stop working or the radio stop transmitting. I still carry my battery pack for when I'm out of the plane to monitor local traffic.
Thank you for all the suggestions. Much appreciated

Thank you Jim. I appreciate your input. I could not have gotten this in the air without a lot of help from people on this site.

    First real flight
I finally got the bugs worked out enough to take my Mark IV out of the pattern. I flew for two hours. Three landings. Im liking this airplane. Also got the vinyl airplanes installed. She looks better than she flies. I think I might be in love

Update: I found the buzzing. It was the lexan between the wing and the cabin top. One strip of white gorilla tape cured the problem.

I don't have any 5200 so I guess I will just fit them and rivet them on for now. During the last test flight I could hear something buzzing/vibrating on the plane. It sounded like it was coming from the left side up top by the wing. We taped the area where both pins go with duct tape and it didn't change anything. If it does it again I might try taping the gap between the wing root and the inner rib.

    Installing wing root trim covers
i need to install these. Any hints to putting them on? It look like you can’t drill to high on the leading edge due to the fiberglass tank overlay and the inner doubler inside the spar.

Joey are you using an external antenna? I'm getting a lot of "noise" through the headset. Have you had this issue and if so what have you done to lessen it?

    Radio
I have Icom A6 that I’ve had a few years. I took it out last week  and used it most of the day. I have a battery pack that takes standard AA batteries. I got it out today and it’s almost dead.  $6.00 worth of good Duracell Batteries gone in one day.
Ive has a few Icom radios. I’ve never had one that would hold a charge worth a crap.
What are you guys using for radios. I’m tired of playing this dead battery game.

The thing I love about LSA is Experimental. I love to build as much as I like to fly. Putting an idea to material, making something cool and functional is rewarding. I went to Home Depot and was looking through their aluminum selection and came across some nice light flat stock. I brought it home and make a place to hang my headsets and radio.

    Cheek Radiators installed
I got the cheek radiators re-installed. The shop found that one of the tanks had a leaking seam. While I was painting them I decided they needed a little something special. Attitude!!!

Thank you Leonard. Now that you have explained the process I have seen this done on other Experiments. Can you tell me what the VG lay out is under the tail?

Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

Thank you very. I will work on getting them added this weekend. Would like more detail on the clear tape gap seal too. What did you use and how did you apply it. I assume it goes on the bottom.
