Here is a update on this project .I got my 670 from rick with a c box and clutch. Rick was awesome to deal with and built me a wicked engine .I also streamlined every tube I could .I used the new 3 to 1 airfoiled covers from u fly it . I havent taken my wife up in it but have had my boy and full fuel and it had plenty of power . The clutch makes docking much easier.

straight it is then .flew again today and just am amazed at the handling .the increased height is already allowing me to land close to 10 mph slower as I can flare harder and not hit tail first like I use to in three points at that speed .

I think toed in slightly when at three point stance.i think the stock was toed out on the left side which made it a little twitchy ,it goes straight now

Its not stretched , subaru ,100 hp, the rudder has maybe three or four pounds of bobs, and yes copper pipes to the rad .it seems to cool well.

    High country Wide gear
High country built me a set of his gear and I couldn't be happier with it. Its 7 and a half feet wide and around four inches up over the stock. Twenty two inches wider at the brake backing plate .The quality is top notch and the handling is great .I even landed on a plowed field cross grain and the gear soaked it up .most importantly I was able to seal up the old bungee hole in the bottom of the plane. I covered mine and made up some streamlined bungee covers. At 1400.00 the price was great too.(plus shipping)  I ran it all the way down our runway on the mains right on the centerline. so I think the alignment is perfect. Here are a couple pictures

full lotus are awesome floats ,the are heavy and not very aerodynamic but their tough as hell and work amazing on the snow ,and when your sitting on them fishing they are pretty comfy.

well I couldn't get a 2.62 gearbox ,well I could but rick got me a used one out of Austria with3.1 so basically I get free clutch with the savings .so I guess same prop with more pitch ?prop moving slower is better I would think.

the streamline covers do make a big difference but the gap in performance is to big and it is underpowered .I thought someone on this forum had good luck with the 670.
ed .full lotus are heavy and not very pointy but they are the only float for me cause theyre tough and as much fun as they are in the summer ,even more fun in the winter.they beat straight skis off the snow.i was landing in three feet of powder this winter and they stay on top of it.

New float plane needs a 670
So I just finished this new plane cause I had so much fun with the single seater on floats I bought a two seater , only problem is it doesn't have enough power to pick me and my wife up safely (only climbed 200 fpm) so at six hours on airframe and power plant I'm going to yank the engine off and get the 670 from Rick .
Just wondering how the install went for other members , I know it's a different type plane so I'm sure I won't have the exhaust issue, but still wondering how everything else went as far as jetting and so on.
