    Well the best way to save money  if you own a stock Avid with narrow gear and a Maule tail wheel is change to the wide gear and switch to a Matco tail wheel.

    If I remember right the tanks held about 5.2 gallons each. I had pictures of the installation on my laptop, but I might have lost them in the transfer of information to the new laptop. I will try to find them. I can not remember the cost of  them though. I think they were just a little differant design than wingtanks.com. Mine have a turn on filler cap for each tank. My inboard insert did move a little bit after flying it a few hours. The wing must move and twist in flight some.

    I don't think a little gas in the tanks while towing is going to over stress anything. To much gas left in will leak out while the wing is folded unless you tow the airplane flight level.

    I tried fixing my rotted out tanks, it didn't work. Ended up putting new tanks inside the crap fiberglass ones. Bought mine from Rlcky Mt Wings. Not sure if they are any better than Airdale to deal with if you can even get hold of them.

    Avid requires you use the wood fairings, part of the structure of the lift struts. Not sure about Kitfox though.

    14 degrees and snow
    The first snow and cold snap of the season. This is my temporary runway until spring. I keep my Avid at home in my trailer and fly out of the field behind our house.

    I had no problem transitioning into my Sky Raider even though I use my left hand for throttle, right hand on the stick and I am sitting in the center. There is no need to line much up on a long or short runway because in about 180ft I am airborne with either airplane.

    If I remember right when I was training in a 150,152 my instructor drilled into my head to keep the nose wheel up as long as you could. What the hell.

    My brakes don't work good enough to put it on its nose. I'm thinking if you put a airplane on its nose and hit the prop you have done something real stupid.

    I have been running my mixture control for years and have not had any problems with it. Mike Jacober from Alaska did the conversion for me. Unfortunatly Mike was killed in a trike.  Leni would know more about it than me, he is also using the mixture control  I think.

    If my 503 is running rich it will make the rudder pedals thump when you pull the throttle back. I just lean the carbs out one turn.

    I think maybe now days there are so many deadbeats they have to have strict policies. Like every thing else a few bad apples makes it bad for everybody else.  For the first time ever I was late to pay my credit card balance last month. I just forgot to pay it on time. They charged me $35 late few. After getting the late charge I called them and explained I just forgot. They checked my records and could see I paid my bill in full and on time for years. The person from the credit card company said yes we will credit your account the $35 late fee on your next billing statment. I think sometimes we have to remember these people deal with a bunch of assholes every day, and I think they know there are still some straight shooters out there yet and they will work with you.

    Just picked up this trailer this weekend. Should work great for a hanger at home. Going to smooth out a runway in the plowing after the anhydrous is on. Hope to take my Avid to northern Mn this winter for some ski flying. Had to let some air out of the tires for the 3 blade prop to clear.
