No, they are the original Alum Kitfox tanks I picked up off
Barnstormers. The avid rib is a little thicker in front so
I added the false ribs on the tanks. I didn't rigid mount them
as it's said they crack if you do. I did buy them just to
    add to the Catalina tho.
If you don't need the fuel, don't fillum.

rib hinge tails ailgned ready to glue

    ribs glued and clanped

checking flaparon alignment and smoothness, perfect

I guess I'll need help figuring out how to mount this thing
also do you think 615 hp from a stroked 302 will be enough
Also I have the boat reattached after removing it for some more modifications
to the landing gear seal to the airframe-to-boat, a picture will follow.

No, I don't think so. The "boat hull" is thin, @ 1/8 inch. I don't think
it would take much abuse. I even wonder abour rough water.

I have a pair of the, I think Avid???, Wheel skis.
Leni, Why can't we just raise the pedistal, Axel location,
and use them for patterns? That way if you wanted to use the
22" tires you could, just make the teflon bottom fit.
Instead of bolting into the ends of the axel, add a tube to
    slip over the existing axel.

I was at OSH with my Dad and uncle in 81, seem like a
life time ago, both gone now, for you young brats I guess it was. There were more people there than I had ever seen before. It was 95-98 degrees and we almost died, but of course loved it. Dad and Uncle were both home builders. I owned a 150 Citrab
I regret getting back into flying so late, didn't fly
for 22 years, seem I was to busy working, Overseas.
Really intend to make it again and will be great to know
someone there out of the many faces.
That was the year Quantis airlines got to fly display,
but the F jets had to go to Syria and blow them up.

In my experience them that invite you to lunch are the ones
    to pay the way.
Yes, Leni, AV8 should buy us a very expensive berger since
    we have been invited down.
However, I'm game for a Moose Pass, Seward, Homer berger
trip. Its been pretty wind free the last week, man that wind
    was a trip.
They had 100 mph winds at hill top, Anchorage, we had 65/70
here, blew my car shed to threads. Always tell my sis, in
San Diego there wind get to 55 its a hurricane, ours get to 100, doesn't even make the news.

The motorcross rings a bell, also when I used to race for
Ski doo on a factory team, I was young and lived in
Anchorage and the older machines really beat you up

You say you are going to switch gear boxes, why would you pull the flywheel?
I've been in on three motor teardowns on my motors and several others and none
of them came apart any way near what this "warning" told you.
If you pull the flywheel you can use an ordinary three bolt puller, just make sure
the bolts don't go thru and hit any mag coil. Also use a puller with a "shoe" to
protect the crank shaft. If your talking about the pinion gear, it won't jump either.
I would "never" heat the crank shaft, heat would expand the shaft making it tighter.
Maybe their thinking a little heat to loosen the locktight?
A little heat around the flywheel hub shouldn't hurt, but again no heat inside
    on the coils!!!!
The fixsation pin is a pin that fits in the fuelpump vaccum tube and into the crankshaft. A pin of any sort that will fit into the brass tube and strong(hard)
enough not to bend. One can be made from a good quality screwdriver shaft. I have
a store bought one, its about 3" long only.

    Joey
It seems to be in good condition with a few mistakes made
during the original build, which I intend to fix.
    The motor is a 582 mod 90 w/c box.
If every thing goes well it will fly this spring when the
    ice is gone.
Leni is here fixing my computer stuff and he says it can
    fly sooner...it has wheels.
There were a couple on Barnstormers last week.

The panel has an hour meter that has 161 hrs on it. No engine log.
I talked to the builder and he said that was probably right.
The second owner, who I bought it from, said a horse had rubbed
on it which bent one flaparon, broke off all hing ribs, and
bent the strut. That owner never flew it. The last flight was
in 2K, and the last time the engine was ran.
I hooked everything back up and ran the engine to temp, ran strong.
There is a tare down in its future though.
I tried to post pictures, but I'm computer eliterate, also can't spell.

Your panel really makes me jealous, I have the basic stuff. But your right, the engine instruments are the more important ones.
And Leni. the reason I bought the SPOT is so I don't have to look at fuel
sight glasses that don't work anyway, especially when their kinked, comegetme.
And you have to realize that when my engine quits in flight because I kniked the fuel line when folding out the wings, I'm not getting as many hours on it
    as you are.

I used to get some of these mag's some 20 years ago and realized
then I didn't want or have a 100K plane and told all of them to stick it.
Now I get all the mail wanting me to subscribe and send money
just because I registered my Kitfox. Who says they don't share your info.
I have enough instruments in the Fox to tell me what my "plane" is doing
not what the rest of world is doing.

    Business is bad

Two car salesmen were sitting at the bar.  One complained to the other, "Boy, business stinks. If I don't sell more cars this month, ...I'm going to lose my ass."

Then, noticing a beautiful blonde sitting two stools away. He immediately apologized for his bad language.

"That's okay," the blonde replied, "Actually, I can relate;  ...if I don't sell more ass this month, ....I'm going to lose my car."

    Old people road trip
Seniors on a Little Road Trip
While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch.
After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant and resumed their trip.
When leaving, the elderly woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table and she didn't miss them until they had been driving about twenty minutes.
By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses.
All the way back, the husband became the classic grouchy old man.
He fussed and complained and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive.
The more he chided her -- the more agitated he became. He just wouldn't let up.
To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant.
As the woman got out of the car and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old geezer yelled to her.
'While you're in there, you might as well get my hat and the credit card!'
