  1. Hello Mo and C5Engineer,

thanks for your ideas. I found on ulm-technologies an fuel tap with strainer... and this is the right to build an

    fitting for my avid.

The fuel tap is 1/8" female, 90 degree elbow with 6mm. The shutoff is on the bottom...and i can

remove them...an close it with a cap. Now i have a 1/8" fitting with strainer and 6mm... :buttrock:

When i get the things from aircraft spruce... and i come from our avid and talk to my wife that

the hole from the tank is to small... she said... it´s your old problem darling...

I´m to worried to drill the hole in the tank from 1/8" to 3/8". When the metal plate is to small... i have a big problem.

Now, when somebody need a 1/8" fitting for an tank... we now what to do is...

brrr ... cold in germany... next time to put some wood in the fire...

  2. Not sure if the Avid A, B, C and Mk-IV model tank fittings are similar (I used Kitfox tanks in my Mk-IV), but I do know Airdale Flyer tanks are similar to the Magnum tanks with a 3/8" NPT outlet. I believe it used the finger strainer from Aircraft Spruce (p/n #05-17700, 3/8" Male NPT x 1/4" Female NPT) screwed into the tank, and then a brass straight 1/4" NPT with 3/8 tubing barb screwed into that. At least, that's what I have in my notes.

    I need your help...

My fuel fitting is broken... and i read about the finger strainers and so on... yesterday i ordered the finger strainer from spruce and the fitting... but it is tooooo big for my avid mk4 tank.

My tank fitting is 1/8" not 3/8"...  and inside of the 1/8"fitting elbow 90... was a finger strainer... yes inside the 1/8"npt brass elbow fitting.

Where can i buy this 1/8" fitting with finger strainer inside?

No things by spruce, no one at airwolf, no one at ulm technologie ... and no fly without fuel-fitting+strainer

    thanks

  3. OK, because I must really enjoy working in a freezing cold hanger or something, I decided to flush and replace the 5606H fluid in my KF4-1200 brake system.

    Bad move. undecided.gif

First, I purchased a 20oz. oiler can with pump for $5 at the infamous HF china import store, hooked up some tubing and had a go at it. Geez o'crap what a messy PITA! That P.O.S. oil can had a faulty back check ball valve and just wouldn't pump hard enough to fill the brake reservoir or keep the fluid from seeping back down to the can. After cramping the hell out of both thumbs and leaking all over the place, lets just say that P.O.S. oiler can is no longer capable of functioning in any capacity.

Second, while not a particularly difficult job on the other vehicles I've done, a number of questions popped into my mind when dealing with the plane's braking system.

Hello, it is easyer for me to answer after your questions, lets go:

Yes I now your trouble, we had something like that... because we opend the false screw from the valve and pressed the syringe :banghead:/>

So I have a few questions...

Q1.) I can't seem to find a good oiler can that works with the thin viscosity hyd. fluid, most are designed for thicker mineral oils. What do you use? Am I better off just finding a clear plastic squeeze bottle to attach my tubing to? Not too keen on spending $30+ on a fancy brake flush kit from the auto stores given how much use I will give it.

For our Matco Brakes we take a 300mm syringe from an drugstore and an clear gasoline fuel pipe.

Q2.) I've read that you *must* unbolt the brake ram clevis from the pedal horn, as any pressure on the ram tends to close (open?) the check valve in the brake cylinder and preclude a full fill. Anybody do this?

    No...we didn´t do that

Q3.) I've also read that you should stat with the longest run (ie., the right side brake) first, then do the other. Why is that, makes absolutely no sense to me??

It makes for me no sense too :hammerhead:/>

Q4.) After you remove the dirt cover and open the top bleeder hex head screw, how much fluid do you push through to ensure bubble free fluid? And how do you catch it as it slops out of the top of the brake cylinder reservoir?

Take an second person to help you to bleed the reservoir. Better you take a wife,

reservoirs and oil are natural for them :)/>

Q5.) After you have sufficient brake fluid running down your floorboards to confirm a good fill, do you close the lower bleeder valve but leave the upper bleeder valve open to allow any stray air bubbles to work their way up and out?

yes, in this way it works. We closed the upper bleeder 5 min. later.

Keep on flying, many happy landings, Flugtaxi (sorry for my bad english).

Feel free to share your tips please!

  4. Hello Ed,

it is an nose-gear from custom flightsystem:

The nose-gear is spring-loeded. I have two nose-gear forks without springs and one who is spring-loaded.

I´m from herzogenaurach near nürnberg. There was an airbase till 1992 "herzobase" (from 1945-1972 USASA).

And there are the factories adidas and puma.

We change the nose-gear to tailwheel - the optic is much better. And now we must try to land this plane :)

    and now the new wide-gear ;) .

My pc is a lowrider ... slow and hard to ride.

The propeller is an helix from www.helix-propeller.de

The prop is carbon. Quiet and very light.

In germany ultralightplanes must have lower noise < 60 db(A).

behind the avid it´s our "hangar".

Have some user information about moule-tailwheels?

  6. Some pictures about our avid.

...yes there are avids in germany ;)

First with nose-gear, and later with wide-gear and an moule-tailwheel.

    post-482-13461820760642_thumb.jpg

Motor is an jabiru 2200 / 80 hp.

Now there is a problem, i load the pictures but i can´t

see it in attachments... but the used MB are going up?!

Where are my pictures. Lost in www :(

  7. Hi Tia,

i´m Martin from germany. We (my wife and me) have an MK4-heavy hauler with jabiru. We have an trailer 2,5m x 7,5m.

It is not so easy to drive on small streets but it is ok. We stay 5km from our Airport (Herzogenaurach...

we live near adidas and puma factory).

For the avid it is importand that you drive slowly (60-80 km/h).

Our Avid was trailerd with nose-gear and now we have it with wide-gear and an moule-tailwheel.

The folding time is 15min. The only problem for one person is to put the tailwheel on the trailer

when you will drive home. But everytime there is a person who can help you :deadhorse: .

Best regards (and sorry for my bad english :(
