Thanks,  I'm copying the color scheme on my Kitfox 1 that I had.  Will be putting red pinstriping on the orange stripe.  Won't fly this winter I'm guessing.

Thanks Randy.  I'll try to just find the seals by themselves.  I ordered 4 bearings that are the right size, but they didn't come with the seals.   JImChuk

Leave the therapy to the wife, I'm heading to the garage.  I'm not crazy, but maybe I'm driving the wife crazy.   Good thing she doesn't even know what all is in the hangar.  Bad for her if I kick the bucket and leave her with the mess...  JImChuk

On all the Avids I've had with the standard 6" wheel, the bearings looked like this. The seal was about 1/4" wide, and was a separate part.  JImChuk

I think I have an extra one.  Shipping would be a killer though.  To each his own, but I think the sling seat is way more comfortable.  JImChuk

I don't think you have to many airplanes/projects.  Is there such a thing as to many airplanes?  I don't think so.   Have fun with it Bob :-)   JImChuk

Thanks guys.  It's been a long time getting to this point.  Still a long way to go though..  :-)   Still have to do the colors on the tailfeathers.  And then of course there is the panel and FWF.  Ya, it'll be a while yet.

Real hi tech valves for me...  the snowmobile style ones like Avid supplied with their kits originally.  Look on page 18 of this LEAF catalog.  JImChuk

To each his own, but I like having a valve for each tank, and I only run on one at a time.  I do have the ram air tubes on both gas caps as well, plus the standard Avid aluminum pipe header tank.  I think the low fuel warning is a good idea, although I don't have one.  JImChuk

You found my next project..... Darn!  Actually the doors are missing as well.  Kind of interesting is the wings have flaperon hangers like a Kitfox 4.  On a close up of the wing, you can see where the fabric was patched at each rib tail.  No telling if that's a good thing or bad.  N# is expired.  Wonder what the FAA's position on ownership is when bought from a sheriff's sale.   I tried to talk to registrations in OK. and got hung up on after waiting for a half hour.  Wonder if anyone on here is actually interested in this plane.....JImChuk

I have Allen's old one that came on my Kitfox 4 from Texas.  I should try to move that one down the road as well.  (Allen was the original builder of my Texas Kitfox 4 that I'm painting right now.)   JImChuk

I've always used brass 1/8" brass fittings with the nylaflow tubing and don't seem to have any problem.  Auto parts store or good hardware store will have the 1/8" brass fittings.  JImChuk

I see a few posts back that I said that maybe by the middle of the week I would be spraying it.  I said that on July 28.  Well now it's August 10 and I finally started to spray poly brush.  Ready for poly spray tomorrow.  Nice thing about this paint job, is the majority of the plane will be gray like my Kitfox 1 was.  And that gray is actually poly spray.  So maybe it wont be that long before I can start spraying the Kitfox 3 once this one gets out of the booth.  Oh well.  JImChuk

  24. 1avidflyer added a post in a topic Kitfox Highwing gear on an Avid???

Thanks for the info Nick.  Just one question though.  If I'm reading this right, in the upper left corner of your drawing, you show weight at 600 #   My plane weighs right at 600 lbs.  Of course when I add fuel and my fat butt, it goes up from there.  Add someone else, and we will get up to a maximum of 1150 gross weight.  But then I got thinking, well there are two landing gear, if each one does 1/2 the weight, that's close to the 600lb you mention.  I'm confused.  Just for comparison, it would be interesting to see the numbers on a bungee gear.  I'm imagining that would have to involve real drop tests though, cause how else could one accurately  figure the stretch and movement  in the bungees.  Thanks for getting my brain working (or at least moving) this morning.  :-)  I wonder how close some of my landings come to that 3.8 Gs you show???   I never set the ELT off anyway.  Well not lately anyway..... 25. 1avidflyer added a post in a topic Kitfox Highwing gear on an Avid???

Ya, I talked with Lowell today.  Maybe I'll get a new cabane from him that fits the Avid rather than modify the one that fits the Kitfox.  Looks like the Avid width is 1/2" more than the Kitfox.   JImChuk
