    I bought the tool in the morning and made the cables after

    just have to put then on the plane (I've got a "tent and sleeping bag" week end with my daughter and 20 other pilots if the MTO is OK)

    Oh Oh

    I've got the movie of my first landing (and take off) with the avid

    It was the first time (for me) in a tail dragger

    I wasn't allowed to fly the plane (I had to finish the bathroom first !!!!) and I was just training to drive the plane on the ground

    but I pull the throttle on and...... it goes up !!!

    and the only thing to do was to ........... land

    the vid is in a bad quality but I wasn't supposed to fly this day

    Gear leg safety cable
    Hi

    one of my safety cable is HS (the nicopress wasn't well swaged)

    I think the other nicopress have to be changed, and making new safety cable would be more easy to do


    does one of you have the correct dimensions of this cable (it is 19.5" long but I need diameter of the cable and size of the fixture)

    before I used to land @ 100-110 km/h

    now it's 90-95 km/h (indicated speed, my speedo is false)

    I put the VG under the tail yesterday

    now it's more easy to land at low speed with engine on idle (slow motion)

    before the avid was like a flying "iron" now it is more light than before (don't have to use full trim)

    The jab is supposed to deliver 80 HP

    I'm steel looking for the 15 last horses (and may be more)

    The jab is a direct driver and the rotax is re-ducted so it could have more RPM and a larger propeller (turning slower)

    the rotax is lighter than the jab

    so at the end, using a jab in an avid is a non sense (and I don't talk about valve guide failure and other problems)

    the link is about the 6 cylinders jab

    this engine has a lot of problems like gas flow in the middle cylinder and hover heating in the same one

    but the main problem of the jab is the cylinder head : not enough aluminum, bad quality valve guides (with a hole !!!), no valve gasket and for some (bad numbers) a camshaft for solid lifters used with hydraulic lifters etc.......

    I don't know what I'm realy looking for

    what is written in chapter IX is a bit "too much"

    something like 0° flaps in cross wind, 10° when no wind .....


    landing and take of distances on the yahoogroups document are less than what I could do ......... (at cross weight)

    for Manu : the document of the APA seems to be the one from my avid : values are false !

    I think this engine is a non sense

    what Ultralight pilot need is an ultralight injected engine

    a 582 injection might be a better innovation than this too heavy 912

    Avid's gross weight is 450 kg

    French gross weight is 450 kg too

    the more heavy is the engine the less gas or passenger weight you could bring.............

    My first wish was to have an aluminum panel with a little box (the one at the bottom) for maps, sunglasses, pen ....

    Machining aluminum is easy for me and I've never work with fiberglass


    But the aluminum panel was too eavy

    so I made a fiberglass one !!
