Hi Ed, Randy , sorry was gone for the weekend just noticed your reply, Ed I built the firewall with tips from Randy, I just cut out the flat piece of galvanized sheet metal then  riveted on the angled pieces round the outer edge. The smoker is my brothers wood boiler he build nothing illegal lol.Not sure what a Reveenooers are ,I'm a little slow so will have to google it
Randy , I got the engine with the rest of plane that was built by a fellow named Karlo Khunner, its a 2.58 gear reduction and the engine is supposed to be tweeked up to put out 100 hp or more. The gear drive actually has the engine oil running threw it at a reduced pressure. It sounding real good and luckly my brother is a mechanic so were getting all the bugs out. I learnt a good lesson a couple weeks ago while we were running up the engine in front of his shop ,the prop sucked up a rock and made a mess of the nickle plated tip , nothing a couple hundred dollars couldnt fix though. Thanks again for all the help really appreciate it

Hi Ed if you type in the ORATEX600 in your search baror google there is a ton of information that pops up, some guy cover his super cub in and figured the cost to be around $9000 . Not sure what the noemal cost of covering a complete plane is but sounds like alot less labour and was saying 20- 30% lighter. Sounds interesting

Hi Doug thanks alot for the manual info, the model C with the subaru should be close to the same numbers as my fat Avid, I made a copy for refence. I got the kit fox 5 cowl fitted onto the avid and it looks pretty good, I tryed to upload a few pics but they came from my iphone and didn't like that format i guess. Hopefully sometimes this spring or early summer it will be tearing up the sky.

    Hi Chris,

Nice to here you join the fat guys, it's Willis here the guy you ship the kitfox cowl to modify for my fat avid, been slowly plugging away on it with with a bit of luck should be flying it this winter I hope , just getting to the cables and it looks like I will have to build the same attachment as Randy did on mine to lower them down to connect to the flapper on horns.
I finally got back on the site on my iPad , the PC won't let me get on this site for some reason. . I don't want to hijack your thread but could you tell me if you have the full lexan doors if there done in two pieces, I don't see how it would form nicely in one piece even if you can heat it.

    Thanks

    Master Switch Wiring
Just getting ready to wire the panel on my avid with the ea81 and looking for some help. Luckly my brother is a mechanic but what we want to know is the master switch better to be mechanical or electrical and do you switch the positive or the negative, so we can still run hot to ignition and fuel, is this correct?

    Thanks for any input

Thanks Doug and Randy,We kinda cheated on the camp since my flying buddy had a key to a cabin,I was pretty happy about that since there was huge piles of Bear and moose droppings evey 50 feet or so
The strip was only around 3500 ft about 1000 ft above the lake so we had to hike down to the cabin,(were all the bear shit was )very beautiful country about 1 hr and 20 minutes from my place.

P.S. Got the soob running last night for the first time since I bought the fat avid project, man did it sound mean ,can't wait to get that bird in the air hopefully by fall.
