Gas springs for doors part #s
This is a repost that will hopefully help for searching this subject.
Just did a search and found that the ones that I replaced mine with are from McMaster Carr
    gas spring 9416K12
eyelet ends (2) required  per cylinder 9416K84
I ordered the cylinders with a 40lbs but will order at least 50's next time
the gas springs were $13.17 and the ends about $1.53 each.

Only stands to reason Ed, Noah was a boater and probably was a member of an old school boat club.

  5. wypaul added a post in a topic Fuel gauge options??

Yes that setup will drain the tank in flight.  I tried the "candy cane" style vent in the sme location with the same results. Ended up with a vent pointed slightly off, into the wind squeezed mostly closed that at cruise reads accurate.  On the other wing I cleaned the paint from the end of the tank so the fuel is visible and calibrated the levels in level flight. I like Ed's suggestion but could not bring myself to pierce the tank.

Just a follow up after 500 hours the repair/reinforcement is working great and it has been well tested.  Sorry High Country I guess I missed your post and questions all those years back.

I set it up so that it would fit in a two track road around 66" center to center.
Knee pads are a good idea, I wear them when I'm caving for sure and rollerblading.  I know, i am getting to old to be doing those things but just can't quit.

Ok I see why you were thinking that Ed, that pad is actually laying on the air hose.  The foam is dense and works well.

Yes Jim my thoughts also, will be adding a bolt on angle to function as as a step.
The short answer Ed they are for old knees.  Those are foam pads for kneeling on while working.  They extend the number of hours I can work.  They were for the grandchildren to play with and not wanting to throw anything away they ended up at the hangar where they were quickly repurposed.

    New gear
l had this new gear built at Backcountry Super Cubs and picked up the Roberts strut to go on it.  It should be up and flying the first of next week.  One of the welders that worked at Avid now works for BCSC and welded up this gear.  I did a few things different.  Notice the wide base that attaches at the front mount and the rear, trigear mount.  Also the cabine now has it!s own mount position.
I was going to go with the Grove Gear and had in fact ordered it but the 10-12 week wait time made me reconsider.
We are planning a trip to Johnson Creek and the Idaho Backcountry over the 4th of July and would be happy to have anyone join us.

    Elevartor and rudder hinge bushing
Someone asked about the material used, I believe I use 1/4" poly flow tubing ACS 44-P for those bushings.

I built one from their plans, only out of fiberglass, for my 3300 and it works great, mounted over the plenum so the oil runs back. Have my original catch bottle down stream that just catches mostly only moisture now.  I need to make one for the Avid

20-22 gauge grounded at the switch end only and while you are at it you may want to change the route away from any radio related wires.

Same here with Diana Cream, white undercoat is only recommended for a few colors for Polytone.

An inspection ring and cover just forward of the bolts location works well for me.  You can leave the fabric uncut until you need to get into there if you like.

1/4" X  11/2" pine lattes glued to the backside of the tube and then covered with fabric is what I used for my "Bush Gear" to fair them. Worked great and it is light. It will not add much to the structure although.

Have you checked for head leaks using soapy spray and turn the engine over or better yet a differential compression checker?

    Blood Pressure
I have been searching for a way to bring down borderline bp for a while now and stumbled on something that worked to lower my bp 20-30 points in days.  I know it sounds like I am selling something or pitching something, I'm not.  I eliminated grains, sugars and potatoes from my diet and the bp dropped.  Dont know if it will work for everyone but worked for me without any medication.  We are eating a lot of pinto beans in place of the potatoes.

Hooked up the commitlift dual USB charger today. No noise but in a friends plane he is getting noise but I suspect it is going to be a ground fault some where.  More to come when I get it in the air and give it a real test.
