    Great info on trim tabs ,could anyone tell me what the  deflection of the trim tab is above and below the elevator .Are they equal or do you require more trim deflection  in one direction then the other.

    No it is a rotax 912 ,no reason for it to be a single seat.Empty weight is only  675 lbs and gross is 1200.
    Top speed is still around 100mph with the IFA prop.Still will climb over 1000 FPM.Gets off short because of the steep AOA.The big tires just allow you to land in places like these rocks and help suck up the bumpy stuff.

    Gross weight increase for floats
    A friend just sent me this ,don't know where he found it or anything about it .This gross weight increase mentioned  below ,is it what most people on floats are accepting as the rule when it comes to the AVIDS?
    It is widely accepted that when adding floats to an aircraft rule of thumb says "increase in gross weight = to weight of the Floats added" within reason--Amphibs not quite... Assuming Avid Straight floats weigh about 55lbs EACH an increase in gross weight of 90lbs is how the Factory advised Safely the increase to original gross weight. Just to cover their --s. The assumption is based on the fact that the floats, with their aerodynamic shape etc. when flying, add Lift to the airframe thus reducing the wing loading---i.e. the average float generates their own equivalent weight in lift in cruise... So if an Avid is placarded with a gross weight with floats then it is ONLY when floats are fitted... Remove the floats and the Gross weight should revert back to original Avid number... Which on an Avid C model, without any airframe modifications, is a MAXIMUM of 1050lbs. (Hauler Wing). Less for STOL wing, Less for Aerobatic Speedwings and even Less with the ordinary Speedwing. BUT being "experimental" the Builder is classed as the designer and can literally stipulate the gross weight he wants REGARDLESS of what the kit manufacturer recommends... a way of covering Their --s when flying "overgross" for insurance purposes... Hope this makes sense... Checkout a J3 Gross weight and then Gross weight with Certified floats--- Don't try justifying something to yourself that isn't there! Hope this understandable.     So next question is what kind of cruise speeds are you seeing and with what engine /prop combo ,at what RPM on what model of avid or kitfox ,just out of interest.
    I have 31 inch bushwheels on my Model 4/1200 with Rotax 912UL 80 hp and the IVO inflight adjustable prop,also have 12 inch tailwheel and yesterday was my first flight with this setup and cruise at 2500 ft at 5400 RPM on GPS was 97 MPH which I was very happy with. Climb rate at 2000 ft elevation was around 1000 ft per minute myself [150 lbs] just over 1/2 tanks and 30 pounds baggage OAT 60 f.

    Just wondering how much the big tires would slow a guy down.
    If a guys was flying on say 600 or 850 tires and went to 26/27/29/or 31 inch tires how much speed will be lost.
