    sooooo.... you´ve been in Lübeck?; --- (heard a couple of stories about that airfield). you practically been as far north in Germany, that is 200Km South west of my location, next time you plan a long trip like that don´t be shy to fly further north, always nice to meet  Avid owners.

    I don´t think he burn half of the fuel of a rotax 582; eventhough he seems happy with the engine, he ran into some issues with the exhaust installation, nothing big in my opinion, but still he is not sure about the fuel burn advertised on that website.  One engine you want to consider is the GEO Suzuki-
     
    G13BB   16  valves SONS about 100 HP naturally aspirated
    G13GTI 16   valves DONS 110+HP naturally aspirated
    G16       16   valves SONS NA about 115HP

    he have conversion kit, is little bit heavier than the 912; but lighter than the soob, he recommended a 45 degree installation to match the gear box  and fit the engine in the cowling, but in my opinion, vertical with a belt drive will do the job just fine.
     
    I`m not doing any advertising here nor connected to any business, however, we should all push for cheaper and more reliable aircraft engines,  they are around us since ealry 80´s running in our cars/bikes.
     
    I would have already this engine installed in my avid if it would be because I need to use a ridiculous amount of money to get engineering company approving the engine conversion; just because nobody else has that engine on a plane here yet.

    I have exact same problem with my plane, same prop, same degrees, and this the second engine I tried and they both show same performance, that gear box does not like GSC;
     
    2 blade wooden prop work very well... I´m happy with the performance I get with 2 different wooden props I tried.

    additional to all this, I know somebody had an annoying sound on the radio and after tons of investments on filters and all sorts of things, he couldn´t get rid of a cracking sound on the radio, he later find out by accident that one loose ground contact somewhere was vibrating against a metal plate and creating the noise, it was worst at high RPM and start or stop ramdomly.
     
    spend money and even worst "LOT OF TIME" and all what he need it to do is just tight a screw......

    way too early (ejem...since 2009 nothing has happend) to say anything about the engine really, we are GUESTIMATING the performance, but the paper says that has a gear ration of 2:1 and achieve it´s maximum torque (based on the demonstrator model) at 3500RPM.
     
    this is not a rotary engine,  Junkers was using a diesel engine with a rotary sleeve valve as well... I sent them a mail a couple of years ago, asking more about the engine and I got a very vague answer, don´t know really what are they holding on for...

    We had hoped to have our 250cc version available about midyear, but the company we were negotiating with in Germany to manufacture these engines under license has fallen through as of the 23rd January and the release date for this model engine is unknown at this time.
     
    I sorry but that is all the information I can tell you.

    582 manual says part 922245 - Angular tube 1/4-18NPT; however part catalog for 532  I have from 1988 says

    In my avid there is a antenna tab right at the lower end of the turttle deck opening, in the middle, I place my antenna there and I have no problem at all, even when I fold the wings...
