   I can't imagine any factory to ever let crappy work like that out the door and expect to stay in business.. That is horrible!!! I guess they just don't care about safety or liability at all..

   N85AY.. How's she doing Bill??

   Sold my avid N85AY around a year ago to Bill Poindexter..(OKavidflyer). Just curious how the plane is doing? I really miss it and havnt owned a flying airplane since. I have the need to get back in the air! I sold it to finish my RV8 which is coming along nicely. Just looking for an update. Still need paint, prop, cowling and Lots of time before the RV is done.

   I hope you enjoy the bird as much as I did Bill. It was a pleasure doing business with you! I'm sure gonna miss the avid but my RV project will keep me buisy enough to keep my mind off of it.... I hope!

   Avid Mk4 for sale

   Hello group, I've decided to put my avid up for sale. It is a mk4 with extended aerobat wings. Rotax 582 with 75 SMOH by CPS. Very nice panel including nav/comm with vor and mode C transponder. Very extensive logs and pictures back to day one. October condition inspection with compression 123 front and back. Ready to fly. Has grove gear. Can be seen on barnstormers. I'm asking $16,500 to finish my RV8 project.

   I have the extended aerobat wings. The plane flys great but I've never flown the STOL wing version. On mine takeoff and landing is truley as short as I would ever need. I havnt done a steep climb yet but at 70mph it shows 1000fpm climb. I cruise at 90mph on 5300 rpm with the 582. Stall is 40mph but my plane has alot of extras and empty weight is just under 600lbs. I'm pretty damn sure the speed wing and aerobat wing are the same airfoil but the aerobat has thicker spars and struts with more ribs. My buddy just bought a speedwing c model and after flying mine he is ordering the wing extensions.

   The article states maybe because avids 2 stroke engines are inverted while kitfox is upright. Never thought it would make much difference.

   Rear lift strut failures???

   Hello, I've read of two cases where the rear wing strut threaded attach rods have failed on avids. The rear strut on the left wing is the only strut that I see that has a threaded rod end where it connects to the rear wing spar. Is this something to be cautious about? Anyone have any problems? Is there any way to fix this potential problem? Just trying to be aware of things like this. I know they say no structural failures ever recorded but this seems structural to me.

    Thats what I figured, and that's good news. Just looks like if I adjust them forward the will smash the firewall insulation. Guess I could trim the insulation.

    Rudder pedals

    I'm wondering if the rudder pedals are adjustable on the mk4 I'm looking to buy. When they are in the neutral position they lean back. Looks like there are different holes on the brackets that attach the cables. Can you attach the cables further back to move the pedals further forward?

    Fuselage question

    Looking at a mk4 to buy, do you guys know what the two holes that are built in to the bottom of the fuse are for? They are located under the horizontal stab at the very bottom longerons. Looks like some sleeves welded to the fuse so you can bolt somthing to them. Also serial # is 985 I was reading that mk4's start at 1000?

    Avid tail differences

    I'm looking at buying a an avid mk4, can you tell me wich tail came out first? One that I'm looking at has the rounded rudder. Then I see some others have a more square shaped rudder. Wich is newer? What years did they change this and why? Is there an advantage to one compared to the other besides looks?
