  1. Thank you, Sir. That's a fair bit of detailed information, worth way more than 2 cents! I have basically the same question posted over on Team Kitfox. One thing has struck about this site, Team Kitfox and the Rans site is how friendly and helpful the members are, even to ignorant newbs such as myself!!!

  2. FWIW, I am approximately four hours Southwest of Spokane in Oregon (97065). If anyone from far away wants to buy now and pick up in the Spring, I can help with storage. If you purchase the trailer, I can park it at my place. If plane only, I can store it under cover. Would cost you my fuel plus any insurance if you feel the need. I am not in the market, yet. Just here to soak up any knowledge you gents care to share with me.

  3. Is there a parallel that can be drawn between the various Avid and Kitfox models? I am much more familiar with Kitfox models and how they differ, one from another. Just trying to learn what is what in the world of Avid aircraft. Any and all information appreciated.

  4. I seriously doubt that that thing had squat for STOL capabilities!

  5. If a guy has deep pockets and puts a premium on his time, it's probably best just to hire out the job. Especially if it comes under the heading of 'conversion'.

The less depth your' pockets have (I don't even have pockets), the more important it becomes to enjoy a good challenge. Customizing anything may or may not be expensive. It does, however, most often require a significant investment in time.

  6. Good Lord, that was Hillary(ous)!

  7. As of this morning, it has been confirmed that I placed second. I just have to trust that it worked out as it was meant to. The only other option is to pout about it and I don't want to do that. I do know that some of the most expensive projects I have been involved in started out 'free'. Anyway, onward and upward. EDMO, thank you for the welcome. Does the Club have regular meetings? Let me know, I will be the guy that shows up a day late!

  8. I heard you guys, loud and clear. I talked to the gentleman who owns the Avid. Very nice guy who had a fuel flow issue during climb-out on a hot day. Sounds like he really would like to fix her up himself but is faced with family health bills. He said he just could not bring himself to part it out and would rather know that it is being repaired to fly again. As it stands, I am second in line to take it home. In other words, I am the tail dragger that almost got the tail-dragger. He does have my contact information but, at his price, the first guy would have to be completely nuts not to load it up.
