Hey guys.. I just got back from a 5 day mission. 42 hours of flight time, 3 states, 4 countries (including Iraq) and half a million pounds of cargo moved in 5 days. We were gone 105 hours and worked 70 of it. Not too shabby of a trip. It's nice when there quick but then it takes a few days to recover afterwards.. I'm beat. Hope to get a few hours to work on my Avid on Sunday.

not avid shots, but a few shots of a place we flew to last week to drop off and pick up other clients. The cabin was built by a guy named Dick Proenneke in 1967. The craftsmanship was unbelievable. The door hinges and door latches were a work of art and he only had hand tools some of which he made himself. He lived out here for 30 yrs. There are several movies and books about him. Was a nice flight from Island Lake thru Lake Clark Pass to Telequanna Lake.

We're probably getting about the same as you, Skysailor. Just finishing a week of high 80s and 90s with humidity to match. Rain this weekend then more seasonable next week, 70s and 80s.

See, Leni, you've got this all wrong.
Everyone here is supposed to be writing (with movies and photos) all their adventures and building schemes so I have something to inspire me while I'm working on my shop, so that I can then work on my plane when the shop is done!
Either that or come down here and take me flying.

seems that there will be a flurry of activity then posts die off for awhile then it will come back. I would like to think it is because everyone is out enjoying the weather and flying the planes instead of the keyboards.

yeppers, mine are the same way. Extended 1" but should have gone 1.5 or 2". Same clevises etc. You can hook them up without the clevises, but have a buddy help and a couple beers to help dull the pain of the skinned knuckles.....

Thanks looks like you extended your attachment points on the rudder and added a clevis.

Yup, she's home, in my garage. Actually, it's been there for a couple of weeks now, just waiting on paperwork to clear before I spoke up too much about it.
The Mrs & I hauled it home in a UHaul truck over Memorial Weekend.
The project will really begin after the 4th, I hope. I have some other Irons in the fire that need to be finished first, then I'll take lots of photos and document everything on my website as I go (I think).

AnnouncementEverything is now final, so I can officially announce that:
[glow=yellow,2,300]I am a Kitfox Owner![/glow]
I have bought a "flying" model Classic VI-1200. It's got a 912UL 80hp, Grove gear, panel mounted GPS and lots of bugs to fix before I fly it again.
Wish me luck. (I may need it...)

Bruce,
It's the truss type gear. On the aluminum gear, I think you can use shims to align the gear, if the axles have flanges. Sure would be simpler.

There are several V's on Barnstormers right now. Most of them been running 25-40K depending on how they are equipped. Go to www.barnstormers.com click on experimental on the left then click on Kitfox. There is about 4 pages of them right now. That will give you an idea of what people are trying to sell them for anyways. Most of them have been on there for quite a while.

Yeppers, level the fuse so the bottom of the door sill is level. As was stated above, measure the thickmness of the scale and make sure all weights are taken with fuse level both ways.

I cheated on mine. I just knocked the 2 barrels off the gear, lined them up and welded em back on. Did not take as long doinking with the axles and cheater bars etc.
