Leni I spent some time on their site today and they have some KILLER new tailwheel set ups. They are dual fork and go all the way up to 11" now!! I talked to Andy at Matco today and they will do a conversion for you using your existing mount and steering linkage saving alot of money. I think I'm going to run the 8" with the 3.5" wide tire with the dual fork set up. The advantage of the dual fork is you can run a bigger tire with much shorter arms. The dual fork 8" set up is actually shorter than my 7" set up.

Hell Yeah! That does open up a world of ATV tires to easily use now! I really like some of the new tail wheels George has now also. My 6" pnuematic picked up a screw and self destricted on the short taxi time in from the runway to tie down. I didn't like that skinny lil beyatch back there anyway for off field work.

    10 inch wheels from Matco
Took a look at the MATCOMFG site yesterday and was amazed to find a pair of 10 inch wheels as well as the 8 inch wheel they have had for some time. Opens up alot of tires for our use. They also have several styles of double fork tailwheels. weather wasn't cooperating so it was internet search time

Thanks, I needed that! Last year flat out sucked sour balls for a bunch of reasons. I think I aged about 3 years so I can't put it behind me fast enough. Anyhoo, got the Kitfox parted out and sold everything but the engine and instruments so I have a few bucks to drop on needed Avid+ goodies. Was able to cross off a couple of the top 'Honey-Do' items... just finished a bunch of painting, put a new hardwood floor in the family room (Merry Xmas Dear) and smashed out another 650sf of tile that needs replaced (Happy B'day Dear). Got all the new material purchased and sitting here, but I think I'll hire the install out (Happy B'Day Doug). Cut the lawn for the first time this year today, spring sure does feel good this year!
Oh, and Russ, let's be clear about one thing... until yer pushing up daisy's I'll never be as old as you!

I recall correctly, he modified a set of Aerocet amphibs for hydraulic retract. He had it on a bobbin at the SPB during OSH 2009. Just finished painting it the week before, sure was shiny!

    Thank you, very much.

I just noticed that I ordered 1/2" bungee from Spruce instead of that 3/8"... I wonder if it fits and if so, would 6 loops per side be enough?

    Regards,
    Kekkuli

Thanks guys!!! I went out to the airport and it was blowin 15 knots right down the pipe. I had 6 gallons on board so went out to play in the pattern. I was playing with flap settings and really working on getting in short. My groundspeed was around 22mph on touchdown. I stopped on top of the numbers 3 or 4 times it was a blast. I was doing a stop and go in about 100ft. For takeoff I was pulling on full flaps and going full down elevator. Tail would come instantly with the throttle...count one...two... pull and she was flying. Even with a takeoff like that a climb at 50mph hanging on the prop was yielding 1200fpm.....God I love these airplanes!! I got several comments from guys in the run up area watching on the CTAF. I got tired of beating on my tires so landed between the rwy and taxiway in the rough a few times and called it a day. Not bad for a Bday flight... 8 landings in a 0.5

    Thanks again...

You can also make the loops using .041 Safety wire to tie them. I have seen several different places before that showed how to do it. I will see if I can find some links for you to go to. If I cant find some, I will write up a how to later this evening when I bail outta the office.

    Avid flyer rigging bungee suspension
    Hello All,

I've got my Avid Flyer maintenance finally started. Now I wonder about how people actually set the bungee cord to the plane?
I bought 1/2" bungee cord. It seems to be quite sturdy thing.....

I read a thread from this site telling about required number of loops to get appropriate suspension to the landing gear. That was good thread but how do you
fasten bungees to the landing gear? In my plane (original setting?) some kind of clamps (looks aluminium?) has been used to squeeze cords together to form a loop in the ends of the cord.
Where to get those clamps or any suggestion to do the job by using other technique?

    Any suggestion?

    Regards,
    Keijo
