Brett is going to get me the back rib hangars to splice in. I'm going to remove all the fabric, inspect and recover the wing while i've got it off the plane. As much as it sucks to have to repair it, i do enjoy the work. Now if i could only build planes for a living. Then i'd never really have to work ever again....

You can replace just the rib tails and not the whole rib. Its easy to do as I replaced ALL of mine for the flaperon hangers. Brett can fix you up on all the parts needed.

Sucks that she got broke but its a good thing that he is willing to step up and pay for it!

    Wounded Bird
Why is it that answering machines always have bad news on them. Today i returned home after a funeral and a 16 hour drive to find one of those "uh-oh" beeps on the answering machine. A friend who lets me store my plane in his hangar had some bad news. He had fallen off a ladder from just a couple steps up but his shoulder caught the outboard edge of the flaperon and broke the ends off the two most outboard flaperon ribs. He feels terrible and has offered to pay for the repairs. He said he felt so bad he almost got sick. I'm not mad at all just sad that i won't get to fly my little AVID for the next few weeks while its getting fixed.

I wondering where to get the ribs from and seeing as i'm going to have it open i might as well put a second gas tank in so i have one in each wing. I assume Brett at Airdale for the ribs but does anyone have any suggestions on where to get the wing tank?

    Thanks,

    Darcy

    Fords better idea
Willow Run Bomber Plant Video - WWII

Henry Ford was determined that he could mass produce bombers just as he had done with cars. He built the Willow Run assembly plant and proved it. It was the world's largest building under one roof. even then FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA!

This film will absolutely blow you away - one B-24 every 55 minutes. ADOLF HITLER HAD NO IDEA THE U.S. WAS CAPABLE OF THIS KIND OF THING. There is no way he could have even guessed.

For those who live outside of Michigan , Willow Run is near Bellville, Canton and Ypsilanti , MI

It's amazing that one B-24 (built with over 1.225 million parts) came off the assembly line every 55 minutes

Take a few minutes to watch this snapshot of history.

Grabbed this shot off my phone. Make sure you understand how the gear works and where it moves before you paint it. I had to take mine back apart and take the paint off the inside of one tube.

Here's some nice shots Brett sent me of his airplane.

He tapped the backside of his axle so he could use a bolt for a jacking point. I just left the extra inch of my axle sticking out.

The 5th picture is a Curtiss Robin. The 6th is a Jenny and the 9th is an American Eagle 101.

I won't take a guess at the Pientenpol cause you got the name right in the picture

One of the guys in the local model club here is good buddies with the owner of the museum. He goes down every year and flys the old iron around (yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I get jealous every time he goes down there)

    WAAAM Museum
I just got back from a visit to the home town and made time for another walk through of a great little museum there in Hood River, OR called theWestern Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum. It is all private funded with donated airplanes and vehicles and all volunteer help. Except for the ones still being resored, all of the airplanes and vehicles fly and drive, and they fly them regularly on a rotaional basis. If you are ever in the area, it is definately a worth see. I got to talk to the guy who started it and donated about 75% of the planes plus built the hangars and continues to make it his personal work. He said he has flown every airworthy plane in the hangar. I thought it would be fun to post pictures of some of the planes, maybe you all can guess what they are. I will post some for now and more later. The one low wing yellow plane has a flat head Ford V8 and was one of the very few CAA certified airplanes with an automobile engine.

Leni, I flew to Deep Creek and back a few weekends ago to meet some friends and landed in the field by their cabin. I was not topped of when I left and I still had about 12 gallons in the tanks when I got home.

Welcome to the forum. I am flying a subie EA81 powered Avid+ with a 3 blade Warp Drive prop. It is great to have another member to exchange ideas and experiences with. This Forum has been a great help to me and a lot of fun to share in the travels of the rest of all the rest of the group! As you get to know your plane, tell us your observations. Most of my flying is pretty much at sea level so I like to hear how yours performs at higher elevations.
