Yes they are the new F/G tanks with flush fill caps.

Just a bit more info- I'm building a Hybrid HH Speed wing. the first rib and the #4 rib are both the transitional root ribs that Avid originaly used to make room for the 13 gal tanks, the rest are the speed wing rib profile so it tapers down after the 4th rib. My first thought was to add a second strip on top to make them higher than the tank then I could make two thin stirps on top of the tank as well where #2 and #3 ribs would be then it would appear as though there was not even a tank in there and since it tapers down after the tanks anyway it would not look funny to be any "thicker" in this area. Is this a good idea, bad idea, any better Ideas. one of the tanks is pretty good just the other that has this problem? also I have checked and rechecked the wing twist and it is right on

I had the same problem with my tanks - I just used 9460 to glue on another cap strip from front spar to just behind the rear spar on top of the original on each side of the tanks, and then blended the ends with 9460 to match profile.

Not sure it would be an issue, they seem to change shape alittle when full of fuel, check with the tank manufacturer and see what he says.Randy

    Subject: Natural Born Citizens

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

You, who worry about Democrats versus Republicans -- relax, here is
    our real problem.

In a Purdue University classroom, they were discussing the
qualifications to be President of the United States ... It was pretty
simple. The candidate must be a natural born citizen of at least 35
    years of age.

However, one girl in the class immediately started in on how unfair
was the requirement to be a natural born citizen. In short, her
opinion was that this requirement prevented many capable individuals
    from becoming president.

The class was taking it in and letting her rant, and not many jaws
hit the floor when she wrapped up her argument by stating, "What
makes a natural born citizen any more qualified to lead this country
    than one born by C-section?"

Yep, these are the same kinds of 18-year-olds that are now voting in
our elections! They breed, and they walk among US...

Lord -- we need more help than we thought we did!

    QUESTIONS FOR JOEY:
    1. TO weight of your plane, and what is ground run at what Low altitude, standard 59F temp?
    2. Ground run at 5K, 8K, or what ever highest field you would go into?
    3. Same 2Q above at 70F, 80F, 90F?
    4. Rates of climb? Thought maybe you have all this figured out - dont mean to be a nuisnance.
Just thought it might be nice to show the difference to some of us flatlanders.
    Thanks,

Thanks Joey, I am not in any hurry to fly the Avid. This is my second homebuilt so there is not much pressure on this one. I am looking forward to flying it up in Idaho this summer.

Twister, Hi, I'm really new on here, but have been reading alot of the threads. Learned more about avids and kitfoxes here in two days than in weeks elsware. That said, I have bumped into some interesting tidbits along the way. keep trying different searches. Also, are you a Kitplanes subscriber? They have all their old articles online these days. Can search them by topic. Good soarce of info for all kinds of stuff. Good luck, I hope you find your dream bird soon! (keep an Eye on Barnstormers.com. They have at least a few birds like these on there, most of the time.)

I agree that there's no one plane that will fit my mission perfectly. I've vacillated a lot due to my ignorance and fighting my way up the learning curve, but here's what I now think I want (it may be out of my price range, but I'm looking for a flying one anyway): Anything with folding wings that can be handled by one old crip of a man (Kitfox?) with a 912 that will get off the ground reasonably short with a good rate of climb and a decent service ceiling. I do not need a lot of instruments and bells and whistles--I'm looking for something really basic. I just now heard about the KF-4 -1050 and -1200 versions. Do you/y'all have any websites to recommend? I must be doing something wrong in my searching . . .

    Sold my Avid :(
Its a sad day today. I sold my Avid last night with mixed feelings. It was a great plane but I think selling it was the motivation I needed to finish rebuilding my J3 that I bought a couple years ago. I haven't decided against selling the J3 but I want to get it to the point where its worth a bit more money before I part with it.

Don't count me out of the world of Avids just yet though. I know where there's an Avid that's seen better days just waiting for someone to come save it. The guy is very high on his price for the shape its in and it has none of the mods done to it. So when i'm done my J3 or sell it off, i'll make a trip and see if he's ready to part with the old girl.

Till then i'll still be lurking on the forums here once in a while. Take care out there.

    Thanks Darcy,
Was real curious about attaching magnet to spar - Dont like holes in top or bottom of spar - could use a clamp around spar and some sort of attachment.
I would only use them on the ground, or for some other purpose - got me to thinking about other possibilities for magnets.

    Forum Question
Guys - Is there a way to get "today's posts" or "most recent" post list?

There is the "View New Content" button, but if I peak at the forum on my phone and use this button, when I come back later on my computer the previous list is gone, showing only the posts since I last looked.

Just wondering. This forum software is very different from what I'm most used to (VBulletin).
