Thats how I do it on my avid. Fill it, put the cap back on and lift the tall as hi as I can, you will hear it bubble, might take 2 or 3 times and it's full.

I also only got through about 4 ribs before it was setup too much to work it nicely. start with smaller batches and work your way up you will soon find out just how much you like to work with given your specific ability and working conditions. take your time and its really easy to make it nice. if you have the ability to adjust the climate I would set it around 65* and go with it. I used the baggie method and it worked great, cut just a very small part off the tip to make the "spout?" if you don't like the size of bead just cut it bigger. then wet a finger (you are wearing your protective rubber gloves right?) with rubbing alcohol to smooth everything out. lastly I marked my ribs in the order I wanted to glue them and bounced around I think I started at each end then did the tailed ribs making sure you have your tail spacing exact then the in between ribs, one rib had to go over the lift strut attach brackets so don't glue that rib until the rest are fully cured and you can get the brackets set where you want them. keep us posted on your progress

You're just gluing the trailing edge of the faring material? You should be able to get that out of one of those cartridges. Are you using the mixing nozzle? That will give nice tight control.

Another tip that might not have been mentioned in the prior links... The black Part A of the 2-part epoxy never hardens with age but the white part does. If you find yourself with outdated Hysol, don't toss it! Just use it for the non-structural applications in your build, or for your other around the house projects. Even when the white Part B starts to harden in the can, you can chip out a chunk and heat it up (I just use the microwave on High for a few seconds!). If you mix this re-softened hardener with the black Part A, trust me, it still sticks to everything including your hands and clothes like crazy! I'm sure there is reduced efficacy but I can't tell the difference in my not-so-scientific long- term bench tests. Still holding the bumper cover on my son's Jeep, and its been whacked good more than once since the initial repair.

    Ed,
I am currently writing an in depth paper on Density Altitude and how it affects aircraft performance for the class that I am taking. I will share it along with a brief tutorial on how to read the chart and calculate DA next week.

You would not be the first person that has bit in the ass, myself included! Gorgeous pics and great report. Sure makes me want something bigger than my Nanco's but they are a pretty good balance of letting me have a blast and still keep me out of trouble.

Follow up on flying with the 30's.  I didn't land any big rocks but areas that always were a little rough feeling with my 26's felt smooth with the 30's.  They are just a blast to fly, you get the feeling that they would roll over about anything.  The increased angle of attack actually helps in takoff; I typically had to get to 40 mph (on the ASI) to rotate and get off clean with the 26's, but I was able to do it at around 36 to 37mph with the 30's.

Surprisingly, I could not really tell any significant reduction in cruise speed or increased fuel burn.  I was flying up in the Knik valley with about a 10 mph HW or TW depending on direction so it was not a real good test but it still is able to cruise at 90+ burning 4.6 to 4.8 gph.  I will have to cruise for a longer distance with more nuetral wind to get a more accurate reading on the true affect.

Got in a good 3.5 hours of super fun play and landed a lot of 300' and 400' strips that I had been looking at but avoiding.  The plane has a little more tendancy to nosing over when you get on the brakes; probably due to the CG being higher above the pivot point, so you have to be a little more careful on the brakes.  If there is one big con to these tires it is that I need to be sure I don't get too overconfident and sloppy.

I got a set of the earlier model KF hubs and a pair of 8" Douglas aluminum wheels.   I had tabs welded in the inside of  the wheels for the brake disc to bolt to and re-drilled the wheels to fit the 6 bolt hub.  I changed my original single puck Matco brakes for a triple puck Matco WHLB5XT-B5 brake calipers.  They are made for 3/8" thick discs but almost the same diameter as the 1/4" thick discs, so I just fab'd a 1/8" backer plate for the passive brake pad.  I also changed to the remote reservior master cylinders so I could move the top mounting position of the masters in closer to the hinge point on the toe pedals.  Hope that makes sense.

Anybody know how far one of these cartridges will go? I just need a enough to do 5 beads the length of my landing gear legs and cabane struts.

    Hysol info
I think one of the things that draws me to working on airplanes is the endless amount of learning that takes place. As most of you know I didn't actually build my airplane, it was more of a restoration so I missed out on a lot of the things that one would learn while building. One of those things is the use of Hysol. Don't laugh...okay go ahead you can make fun of me or call me the over analyzer/rocket scientist like Leni does.... I realize that to most of you this is a really simple topic.

So Hysol......it's a two part epoxy that bonds stuff together and it's really strong. It's glue that's all you need to know right? Well while trying to school myself on it today I realized that there is a lot more to it than that. The following info is from the Loctite brand. I have no need to spend $80 on a big can of the actual Hysol brand for the small projects I'm looking to do.

Go ahead and Google Loctite Hysol and see what comes up. The first thing I noticed was how many different kinds there was. E-90HP, E-120HP, E-90FL, E-20, 9460, 3981, 9430, the list goes on and on. What's the difference between them? What are the application differences? What about quanities you can buy it in? These are just a few of the questions I had.  After some searching I finally found some comparison charts to try and figure out what it was I needed. I'm still not 100% sure but at least I narrowed it down some. I thought I would post the charts to maybe save someone else the hassle.

If you have some good Hysol info like what type for specific applications please post here. If you want the small self mixing squirt type tubes like regular old epoxy comes in from the hardware store it looks like 9460 is a good general use product. I think I am going to go with E-20HP to glue my wood fairings onto the back of my gear legs since it's non structural and it won't require much work life and looks easier to mix. According to the handy dandy chart I attached either will work when bonding wood to steel.

Also are the tech data sheets for 9460 and E-20HP

with a gsc prop i could not idle below 3,000?  as soon as i installed a clutch and 45 jets i was idling at 1,400-1,500 and absolutely no effort to start the engine.  I haven't seen too many 582's run smooth without the clutch before 2,500 but that being said I do have relatively limited 2 stroke experience.

    Awsome,  too cool!

    It's the medium IVO

I have tabs welded in at the corners so I bent up some .020 aluminum in a 1/2x1/2x1/2 channel and used it as the inside support so I could rivet the window about every 2".  Then cut the window to just overlap the airframe tubing, put a small bead of silicone wher it laps the tubes and riveted it through the window, aluminum and tabs at the corners and to the aluminum channel in between.

I have always just run it with the cap on and the system closed but watch it so it doesn't overheat; then let it cool and suck as much as it can back from the overflow bottle, then top it off.  It isn't fast that way but it works and mine will fly and stay within the temp range after the initial top off so I can still fly OK.  It usually takes me 3 or 4 top offs after that to get to where it will not take any more water.  Leaving he cap off or bleed screw out might be a faster way to get there but tends to be a bit messy if it belches out of the system.  The amount of water that gets pushed out when the thing heats up is pretty substantial.
