The latest information is that it was a mid-air, at low altitude near the threshold of the runway.  A Baron and a Tripacer per the FAA release, witnesses are saying it was an Arrow and a Tripacer.

It was a Piper Arrow not a Baron. I've been in touch with 4 or 5 people who are there for the weekend for the annual Fly-in. I would have been there if I was not deployed. This is terrible! Here's a link with a picture. This thing is still in it's infancy and it's going to spark some VERY negative publicity so please don't speculate online about what happened because you never know who might be reading it.
