GLIMPSE OF HISTORY

1 post in this topic

Posted (edited)

Wife has been tracing ancestry of her lines - I was reading the history of Evansville, Indiana, when I came upon a short article about a man who was represented by a lawyer in 1898,

The story said that this man had invented a flying machine, but would not make it public until he got the patent for the motor he had invented to power it - He had backing then of about $80,000, a huge amount back then.

The big disappointment was that was the end of the story was never told - cant imagine how it ever turned out!

If anyone finds the rest of this, it might be interesting. City workers were being paid $1.98 for an 11 1/2 hour day, or about 18 cents an hour.
