RESTORED??? STEARMAN

1 post in this topic

I just got my Sport aviation mag today - The beautiful "Restored" Stearman on the cover - Maybe not "restored"?

When I picked up my fuselage last week the man who welded the mods for me told me to watch for this article, and that "HE BUILT THAT FUSELAGE". So, this may be more like a "NEW" Stearman, rather than restored?

I didn't see that fuselage in his shop, but saw two different WACOs that he was building from scratch, along with the blueprints for them - and know that he has built many more planes over many years, and trust his words.

BUT, as I reread the article, there is another Stearman pictured - Well, he built one of them.

The Stearman, a 1929, I think, was the first plane I got to drive - notice I said drive, like in "taxi", except the wheels kept trying to get a foot off of the ground - until I got grounded - at age 10 - I got to fly it later.

according to the article, the military didnt buy them until 1934.
